View Full Version : Drinking Coffee while TTC
Hello girls,
Yes another post from me and ive only been on here a few days! I did a search of the forum first with no luck....
I usually drink instant coffee in the morning when i get up and used to drink one at lunch time as well which i have stopped.... havent had my morning coffee regularly either as i was worried it might lessen my chances of conceiving?
Everything ive read says 1-3 cups a day is fine and i would only have 1 so what do you ladies think? Do you think its better not to drink it at all??
It just seems to be my pick up for the morning to get me going!

Hi,
Personally myself I have stopped having any coffee and have also moved across to caffeine tea as I have enough caffeine in the chocolate I eat LOL!
I think it's up to the invidivual, and possibly one cup a day woulnt hurt, but I probably wouldnt have it regularly once you have conceived.
Yeah in that case I think I should just stop now so I dont have headaches etc... once we do conceive......
I love love love the taste of coffee, how depressing! But in saying that ive heard alot of women hate the smell/taste of it once pregnant.

I just drank decaffinated coffee throughout my pregnancy. First few tastes it didnt taste the best but it's amazing how your taste buds adapt and you'll soon learn to like it like it's normally coffee!
I actually bought some not long ago to start drinking, but then I was unsure if this would be bad for me or not? Obviously not! Im just very unsure, might have to go make myself a nice cup of decaf then.
I dont know what you drink, i usually drink Moccona Medium Roast and got their decaf too. I love both of them!
Personally, I wouldn't drink instant or instant decaf - so many chemicals go into the processing of the coffee and to get it into instant and decaf form.
Whilst TTC and pregnant, I always had fresh ground coffee. Two lattes a day whilst TTC and then one a day whilst pregnant.
I can't stand instant coffee - :barf:
Im the opposite I prefer it over fresh, sounds strange to alot of coffee lovers! But your advice is appreciated anyway!

Shan, personally I'm a tea drinker, but I like a milky latte, just cant drink water coffee..... I use to go to Hudson Coffee Shop and buy a bag of decaff beand and got them to grind them and put them back in the bag. But I've got an expresso machine at home so much easier to use!
If you like your instant, go for it! Just stock up on some decaff stuff if you want to try to be a bit healthier I guess :)
I think one instant or cappucino a day should be fine.

I dont drink cafine coffe at all now that i am TTC, I do drink decafe coffee now though. My naturopath said go for water filtered decafe as it doesnt use chemicals to get the caffine out! Decafes that use chemicals to remove the caffine are actually worse for you then cafinated coffe. Nescafe decafe is water filtered I rang their customer hot line to confirm this. So what ever coffee you choose maybe ring the company to check if they use chemicals to remove the caffine. I know girls who have stuck to one cup of realk coffee a day and had no problem concieving though. For me though I am sticking to decafe on my journey! Good luck in your journey and :babydust2::babydust2::babydust2::babydust2: for luck as well!

Hi there, I didnt always drink coffee, and I concieved 6 times whilst Not drinking coffee, but since trying this time I have been drinking one expresso a day and sometimes one instant aswell, and the occasional decaf, and I dont seem to be able to fall pregnant this time around. We have been trying for a long time and I have a feeling I am falling when I stop the coffee.
So I am stopping tomorrow cold turkey in the hope that things will happen this month.
But so many other woman concieve whilst drinking coffee and continuing to have healthy bubs, I think it is just an individual thing.
Good luck, Baby dust to you.:babydust2:
Sorry I forgot to mention I had 6 miscarriages, so things are obviously not on my side anyway!
