Okay well DH and I have decided that I am going to study from home.
The closest tafe is an hour away but doesn't have a great deal of options and the main bigger one is 3hrs away.
Just wondering what other companies offer online courses?
What has your experience been with them?
Who should I stay clear of?
Thanks
Try Open Universities or OTEN (tafe).
I study through Open universities and they have been great so far!
Open Learning (Through TAFE)
or Open Universities Australia
are excellent.
if you study through Open Universities you should be eligible for HECS as well.

I studied through Thompsan (sp?) Education Direct while I was pregnant with dd. They were really good
i also study through OTEN, so far so good, just passed my first assignment.
I am doing financial services so i will be able to do some bookkeeping in the future.
i live in QLD but study through NSW OTEN.
My course is nationally recognised.
good luck

I study through Open Univeristies Australia and its all on HECS.....or CSP as they call it these days.....also if you study 2 subjects a Study Period (they have 4 study periods of 13 weeks a year) you are considered full time and may be eligible for Centrelink Study assistance! Have you thought of what you want to study?
Good luck!!!

Thanks ladies.
I am still not sure what I want to do as of yet. Just online looking now to see if something interests me.
I found a site they are called Cengage, does anyone know if they are good?
Cengage used to be Thomson Education Direct. They changed their name recently.

Oh really, thanks. Coz they are offering a $200 grant. And they also offer monthly installments.

I start uni soon also. There are several uni's that offer bachelors degrees through distance education - Southern Cross University, Charles Sturt University and University of Southern Queensland all have fantastic distance education courses with HECS placements.
I personally think cengage (thompson education) is too expensive, if you go through them make sure the course is nationally recognised as some of theirs aren't.

Hey i'd caution against paying too much too because often the courses arent recognised as a qualification. Having said that many of the uni's offer distance ed now. Thats how i study and am about to start post grad studies. It means you can get HECS to cover you fees too so less financial strain.
Good luck you'll do great with whatever you choose

Also, go to the returning to earning website. If you are eligible, they'll give you a $1000 grant to help you get back into the workforce.
