Ovulation question.....

This is probably covered in another (or a hundred other) post but it will take me less time to ask it than go through all of them!

I have just started charting my ov after finding it's taking me longer than expected to conceive number 2, after being blissfully unaware of charting and luckily conceiving the first month we tried the first time around.

I am using the ovulation kit for the first time and am at day 15 and have not ovulated yet. This would not be that unusual except that I usually get my pd on day 24. So this seems pretty late to me - but could also explain why it's taking longer as we've been going like rabbits from day 8 to day 15 and then taking a break from exhaustion!

So my question is, is it normal to ov so late in your cycle and also are these kits pretty accurate in your experience?

Ov kits never work for me - and I found being so strict about liquid intake and doing them between certain hours a nightmare. I charted - try fertility friend online - if you temp, it won't necesarily give you warning about ov but over a few months you will start to see a pattern and that will help. Or you could try the maybe baby saliva kits - some people swear by them.

If you ovulate at Day 16 say, and then get AF 8 or 9 days later that could indicate a short luteal phase - this can be remedied by a few things but you need to chart over a few months to see where you are at?
