I'm just wondering if it's possible blood tests could be wrong? Or if you could be pregnant and it not show up on a blood test?

I just don't get why all of a sudden I would have a really long cycle..am now CD69!. Ive been regular 32-36 days and now this..why? My doctor said I didn't ovulate last month, but does that mean it happens all the time, or could it be I didn't ovulate because I'm having such a long cycle?

It's eary morning I know, but can't sleep and just got thinking:rolleyes:.

Hi

As far as I know blood tests are 100% correct. I have a few family members who work in the medical field, one who actually tests blood for red cross and it's highly unlikely that ablood test could show false results. Although it's annoying the female cycle can randomly change. When DH and 1st started ttc that very month I missed a complete cycle when I have always had a 33-35 day cycle. Weirdly enough the same thing happened to my friend when she was ttc & although she'd always had a regular 28 day cycle, she skippedhe period a ew times. After 1 yr ttc she & DH went to the docs and tests confirmed she was not ovulating. She had a date booked to see a FS but 1 week before the appointmetn she got her BFP - she's now due in 8 weeks! Our hormones must be going crazy during ttc and wreck havoc on our cycles. Hang in there, I know it's hard, I hope things get sorted out soon :hugs:

Blood tests are 100% correct.

The only time that a bt would not give you a correct result, is if you have only just conceived (within the last week or so). If this were the case, the bt would still pick up SOME hcg and they would ask you to come back in a week.

Hang in there springbride Im on CD61, right behind you  No idea what's going on, at least your doc did a blood test, mine said to come back in November :hair: Did your doc test your hormones to see what they're doing?

Yeah she tested hormones and they all came back fine, the only thing that wasn't, was that I didn't ovulate last month. I guess I'll just wait for this cycle to finish and hope when she tests me next month it shows I have ovulated. I'm just pulling my hair out as to why this has happened :hair:.

Good Luck Little Miss, hope our cycles work out soon and we get BFPs:fingerscrossed:

i can't speak from experience about the type of blood test that you are talking about being false, however (and i dont usually tell people this in case they form the wrong opinions) i will tell you a story about an experience i had with a blood test being wrong....

i was pg for the 1st time which was a surprise, very unexpected pregnancy.... i went to doctor's and had the usual pregnant blood test that tests for hcg levels, blood type, syphillis, hiv, etc. i went back to get the results to hear the dr tell me "you have tested positive to hiv". as you can imagine, i was beside myself. i had further blood test that came back (an agonising 2 weeks later) as negative to hiv.... i was very confused, and i didn't tell anyone except the babies father, who i made get tested. my dr and several since then have said that there are such things as false positives, but no such things as false negatives. thank goodness i was negative. i have had 2 more children since then, and am pg again now and have had numerous blood tests since then that have ALL come back negative.... however i still pack sh!t each time i have blood tests now.

so i know your question is about hcg levels in blood tests being wrong, and everyone said they cant be.... as i said, i dont know about that, but i am living proof that other blood tests can be wrong, so maybe check with your dr???

good luck and take care! :")

Thanks springbride, this waiting thing is driving me mental

Have you thought about trying acupuncture? I've just started and my TCM Dr says it has a high success rate :fingerscrossed:

Little Missy Moo - a lot of Fertility Specialists actually agree that acupuncture is really great for ttc.

Some IVF clinics even recomend it ..... especially if your issues are ovulation or unexplained infertility.

Go for it .... and bring on those BFP's !!!!!!

I did a goolge search and found my TCM dr. When you're searching, make sure that they are Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors that practice acupuncture and that they are accredited. Some are simply needle workers and it's not as effective.

Good luck and bring it on I say :D
