Hi guys,

I have been a dedicated diposable user, and never even considered using cloth until I came across this section of the website - you guys are a fount of knowledge, and I've been thinking that even if the outlay for cloths is more expensive they would be far cheaper and more economical in the long run, not to mention the environmental benefits and the benefits for bubs bum. So you may have another convert.

The nappies I'm interested in are the Eenies nappies and I wanted to pick the brains of any users - I'm sorry if there has been another thread on this before - I did a search but couldn't find one.

One of my local pharmacies sells eenies for about $22 for the nappy cover, and $20 for a set of 6 microfibre inserts. My questions are:

Is this good value? I don't want to have to worry about bidding on ebay, so I'm wiling to buy them new - is this a good price?

Do they work? leak? what's been your experience of them?

Bubs sleeps for 11 hours at night - will they see her through this?

How many am I going to need of both the inserts and the covers? The advantage with these ones is that you don't need to change the covers at nappy change - just the inserts. But how often do you need to change the actual nappy itself?

Is it okay to dry pail these - we live off tank water in a rural area, so I can't do hot washes on the machine (takes about 3 hours - our pumps not great - so it defeats the purpose of doing a hot wash). Also we dont' have a clothes line at the moment, are we going to be able to just dry them in the dryer? Will this kill all the germs if we do dry pail, or should I soak in napisan?

Ummm, I think that's it for now! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've only got one Eenies cover (for now ;) ) but here is their website EENEE (http://www.eenee.com.au/index.html)

I dry pail, warm wash & dry in sun or dryer. Sorry cant help with other info, but the price sounds ok to me :)

Yep bargain! Online new they retail for around $25!

Yes we had one on Ozzy for 11 hours the other night and not a leak at all. We use in them the flat nappies folded into a pad shape or the eeenee pads you can buy which are flushable apparantly! I havn't tried flushing though. I havn't tried the microfibre inserts but I dare say they will last the distance if not use 2 in one nappy!

How many am I going to need of both the inserts and the covers? Hmmm that's a tricky question we have 10 and can go quite a few days without washing, but other days when you get explosive poo's you might need to change the cover say 3 times.

Yes dry pail all you want! I do and it works fine! Not washing in hot water is fine too! The dryer should be enough to kill any germs that surive the wash! If you do get a chance though once every blue moon give them a wash in hot water though!;)

If you have any other questions please ask cause I love these nappies and recommend them to everyone!

it is really going to depend on how much your bub wee's. for me the eenee's were no good but other people seem to love them.

if you would like cheaper microfibre then check out www.bubbaearth.com.au they sell all sorts of nappy making stuff. currently microfirbe is $7.21 (160cmx 33cm) enough to make 5/6 inserts. you will need to overlocker or sew the edges to stop fraying though.

all the best
and welcome to the wonderful world of cloth :smiliedance:

With my eenees i use a part terry flat thats folded into a pad shape with a small hemp insert which last us 3hrs which is the same with my other pockets but im also finding bubs is growing fast again so he is almost out of the smaller size so we are now going to invest in the size 2-4 as we still like them as they are nice snug like a disposable. We only used a disposable twice, once when we were out & i didnt have it in right so it leaked :o but when i tried it overnite with 2 it was great & made it 11hrs or so.

Yes, I have been using Weenies, since my now 14 month old was about 3 months, I have recently bought lots more of the microfibre towels as our no 2 bub is due, and i figure that the more nappies i have, the more i can use the machine, they are brillient, and now that she is bigger i put 2 microfibres in and i only need to change them every 4+ hours. I dont use them at night however as she seems to do alot of pee at night!!! I use nappy liners from Big W, to stop the poo sticking to the microfibres. Yes i do dry pail the nappies, but i do tend to soak the poo stained ones. they dry very quickly, but make sure that you never use fabric softener in them, as it seems to clog the soft fibres. (I did do this for a while, and still use them, however the newer ones Ive recently bourght are softer). I have probably upto 4 sets of the outside covers of weenies, but only because Ive gotton lazy, thats why Ive bourght stacks of the microfibre inserts - so as to wash only ever 3 days or so, (I find that I can wash the outer covers in machine, put it in a bag to protect wear and tear with washing, but prefer to hand wash plastic inners to prolong life). Those prices sound about what I pay, they are so worth it, I really recommend them. We are due with our second, and Ive as Ive already paid for weenies our no 2 will have pretty much free nappy wear!!!! Any more questions, do contact me. Nicola

Hi,
I am hoping someone out there can help me. I really like the weenies pants but I find the flushable pad thing too bulky.

i was wondering if I bought the small pads would they fit into the medium pouch?

or is there some other alternative to using the pads? can I use some other kind of liner instead?

thanks in advance!
Lisa

:goodvibes: another covert :yelclap:
Im just wondering why eenies in particular? I would buy one first and try it out for fit and absorbency on your baby. Not all nappies work the same for all people.

If you want to save cash on microfibre inserts but cant be bothered to sew them, you can just use cheap microfibre cleaning cloths from the $2 shop
