We recently heard about an article stating that non-stick surfaces such as Teflon, Silverstone etc are being reviewed as highly carcenogenic.
The short of it is that Hubby has removed all of our Tefal pots and pans to give them away.
Has anyone else heard this ?

Yes they are bad.... I still have one in my cupboard and use it occasionally, but there have been many article about how teflon, etc is often found in your system and that it causes cancer. I don't know why they don't ban the stuff! Non-stick cookwear is bad and I am going to buy a new frypan that is stainless steel with a heavy base. Much better for you... just makes cleaning the frypan a little harder but probably worth it.
I heard this a while ago on some show about something-or-other.
I think I'm just gonna stage a return to cave man times and roast my meat on a spit over open flame. That surely can't be too dangerous can it? Oh hang on, we have bushland across the road, surely a bushfire hazard.
You just can't win anymore and its so scary to think there are so many things out there that can potentially cause cancer. But I'm sure for every one we find, there are a handful more that we won't know about.
On another note, you're lucky your husband is motivated enough to do something about it! Kudos for him - and you!!!
I've heard this from many sources over the past few years. I have one non-stick pan that I don't use any more because every time I did DH got terrible runs (he has a sensitive belly). Took us a while and a lot of journalling to realise the common factor in his sickness was the pan...
Here is a link to an article on this for you
