New to the Gold Coast and need hospital

Hi, Im moving from Vancouver to the Gold Coast and am pregnant and looking for a public hospital. Is Southport good? Or any other recommendations. Its too late for private insurance in oz. Thanks Leanne :)

Hi Leanne,

Unfortunately you need to be under private insurance for min 12 months before you are covered for private hospital. But you can check with a few private health companies as there may be a loophole when you are moving from OS.

You can try: www.hcf.com.au or www.medibankprivate.com.au

Not too sure on the hospitals as we are also moving next month to the Gold Coast. There is also Gold Coast Hospital .

I have been told Pindara Private Hospital is good.

The Southport hospital is excellent. My niece was born there. And we went there for a broken rib when I was there last at Christmas 2 years ago.

I'd highly recommend it!
