.....................
And its tiny!!!!!!!!! I dont know what i did wrong - but im guessing it had something to do with the way i printed the pattern?!? Other than that it looks good....for a bub less than 1/2 the age of mine!! I will give it a try in the morning but i doubt it will fit. Will have to order some more fabric 2morrow, and fix up my pattern. I was using a wee wekka pattern - does anyone recommend a better pocket nappy pattern??
:)

I haven't used that pattern. I'm going to give the Rita's Rump Pocket pattern a go tomorrow. Its a OSFM.

My first ones ended up a bit small to coz i was pretty new to sewin i was sewing about a cm in and this pattern has a half a cm seem allowence - check your printer was printing it the right size... by measuring the test square. and if it right then maybe you are doing the same thing. i added extra all the way round and now it fits my 10kg 6month old great and my sisters 13month old- you could also try practising on some spotlight fleece til you get it right

Yep, measure the printing test square. If that's right, your seam allowance is probably bigger than what is allocated. You could try moving your needling further to the right, or adding some SA (depending on how much it is out).

I love the fattycakes sidesnap pattern, and my all time fave is the hippy hippy snap pattern. They are both $5, delivered via PDF. The fattycakes fits a wide range, and the hippy hippy snap is trim like an itty bitty.

There is also a pattern called Darling Diapers Unlimited, and it has very detailed instructions (great for a beginner), and gives directions for modifying pattern to front closure, snaps, touchtape, side closure, pocket, fitted, AIO, AI2 etc. It's $15 delivered via pdf.

The wee weka pocket pattern is for a Small to Med size nappy. So it is a smallish pattern. But it should fit a fair size bub up to 14 kg I think it says?

When I make my next batch I'm going to extend the tabs and increase the rise to make a larger size.

Also check your test square and seam allowances.

Thanks guys - i was very cautious and did sew very close to the edge, 5mm at the most all the way round.

What is a printing test square, how do i do that?

And also where do i get a "hippy hippy snap" pattern??

when you print out the wee wka there is a square on the page that should be 1cm x 1cm. thats to make suire you have the size right

Hi Nex, the wee wekka im using doesnt have that - i just checked the web site i got it from, and the fitted/pocket one has a test square, but not the medium pocket one that i did, bummer!

I can't post direct links on bubhub, but I've put the link in my flickr page - you can see pics of the nappy there, and the link is in the description. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62116633@N00/sets/72157606195627075/
