Those McCormick (sp?) slow cooker packs are awesome, makes it easier and you can try a few before you create the spices yourself, if that makes sense.
Generally i put something on around 8am ans set it on low and its ready for dinner, around 530pm, depending what it is :)

Im lazy and cont be bothered looking in that thread too so here is the only casserole recipe I have...
Beef & Red Wine Casserole
750gm Gravy beef or Chuck steak (cubed 2cm)
2tb Butter
2tb Oil
1 Onion
2 Cloves crushed garlic
3 Bacon rashers (trimmed & diced)
4tb Plain flour
1tsp Thyme
1tsp Oregano
1tb Tomato paste
1cp Beef stock
1cp Red wine
200gm Mushroom
2 Celery stalks (chopped)
2 Med carrots (chopped)
1 Lg potato (diced)
1/2cp Frozen peas
-Heat butter & oil in a pan
-Soften onion, garlic then add bacon to brown. Throw in cooker
-Cover meat in flour and brown in batches then add to cooker
-Transfer all remaining ingrediens to cooker and mix
-Cover and cook on HIGH for 5hrs
When I first saw this recipe I was daunted as making anything with more than 5 ingredients usually freaks me out. And Im not one to have herbs in my cupboards but I found this on a low GI website and tried it cos I have GD. The herbs I bought in little sachets for around $1 each and the red wine I actually bought in a sachet from Woolies Liquor (Im not a wine drinker). They actually had 250ml in sachets for around $3!!! I make up stock with stock cubes and it works fine. This casserole is so yummy and the flour from browning the meat thickens up the sauce. It may smell a bit red winey but that calms down and just makes it taste richer in the end. And by using gravy beef it is so cheap. The meat just falls apart once cooked. It melts in your mouth.
Good Luck

You sure you can be bothered cooking Rebekah?;)
I am working my way through the recipes. If there is one I don't like such as one with tins of soup, I just move on to the next one! There are some great ones there.
And really just chuck in anything you have. Some wine always gives it extra flavour!

also you can just use those meal sachet things, the continental ones. they have all different casseroles n stuff, its soooo easy! you can pretty much make any recipes in your slow cooker, just remember to add less liquid cos it doesnt evaporate. i dont usually add more than 3/4 of a cup of liquid otherwise its too runny.
the latest i put my slow cooker on is 3pm on high to be ready by dinner time. any earlier i put it on low.

I usually just chuck in some diced beef and cut up some veges and put it in with some beef stock and put it on low all day and let it go. Always turns out great.
