Hi everyone,
My hubby and I have been trying to conceive since Feb and i went off the pill last October, my periods settled down pretty quickly and my cycle was 29-31 days for the past 8 months until this month then I thought yes, i'm pregnant, but after a few home tests and then a blood test yesterday, turns out I'm not. BUT, still no period. I'm now up to day 41 of my cycle and no sign.
Does anyone know why this is, or how this could have occurred? I am going back to the dotor tomorrow to ask these and some other questions, but thought I'd post on here in the meantime because it's all i can think about.
Thanks.

This probably wont be much help but last yr when my period went away for 7months I was told it was just one of those things & then this yr after my D&C it took 10wks for my period to return & again all I was told was 'its one of those things'. There is not a lot they can find out especially when its a one off. I hope you find out something though & good luck TTC

Hi
Reading your post was like reading something I would write. I am in the exact same place. I've been TTC for around 10mths, my cycles have been between 32-36 days, went and had a BT on Monday came back negative yet I'm now on CD66:eek:. So if you find some answers I'd love to know what they are:D. It's so frustrating, cause if I was pregnant :smiliedance:, but since I'm not, why hasn't AF shown up so I can concentrate on next cycle:hair:.
Good Luck Hun:hugs:

hi northcote blondie
i'm basically just repeating what jamaica and springbride said...
my first cycle trying to conceive was 42days... not a good start to my journey
when i was 18 i was on the pill, took my sugar pills when they were due and AF didnt show up for five months! the only explanation the doctors gave were sometimes it happens...
:fingerscrossed: that AF arrives soon so u can concentrate on next cycle

Hi Ladies,
My experience when ttc #1 was i had 3 cycles after coming of the pill of 32 days and then had 2 or 3 8 week cycles and then nothing for over 5 months. During this 5 month period my GP sent me to FS who diagnosed me with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome - diagnosed by the absense of my period, increased facial hair and acne) which is basically a hormonal imbalance which leads to no ovulation and thus no period. This is one of a few different causes which can produce extended cycles but my suggestion is that you might want to check it out with your GP / a FS to rule out any hormonal imbalances. I have found the pill has triggered the hormonal imbalance for me each time I have come off (to ttc) leading to the need for ART (just clomid for DS and now clomid, IUI and ultimately IVF). Wishing you all the best and hopefully some answers

Thanks ladies, it's so nice to be reassured with these stories, so appreciate you sharing your personal experiences.
It's just terrible... and it really surprises me, but what's more frustrating that being told 'it's just one of those things' by a medical professional seems like a half-arsed answer. Anyway...
Am going back to my doctor on Monday for a pap smear so I'll be asking her these and more questions, and won't be satisfied with a 'one of those things' - God, my MUM could tell me that!
(I'm struggling to understand all the acronyms sorry - what is a 'FS'?)

Hi Northcote Blondie,
It took me a while to get my head around all the acronyms. I still look at posts and think what does that mean. FS means fertility specialist. I wouldn't accept "it's just one of those things" as an answer because it's not normal. You may be lucky that it's just you're hormones settling after the pill but I would be definitely looking for some concrete solid answers. If your first GP doesn't give you much help then look for another. My first one told me to go home and do temps and not to worry about it. Fortunately my sister is a GP and when I rang and told her she readily referred me to an ob/gyn who made the connection within 1 minute of sitting in his chair and confirmed it with blood tests. So be strong and good luck.

:hair: I KNOW :hair:
I'm there with you! Went off the pill, had a normal period and now its been 2 almost 3 months...waiting...waiting...waiting. My doc has also said "Its one of those things" and has told me to wait 6 months before she'll look into it. I'm really not a patient person so I've started TCM acupuncture :fingerscrossed: it gives me some results.
So you're not alone. Best of luck TTC!
