I'm pretty sure the one on BubHub was a photography business ? Although I may be wrong...
I went for one of those 'No experience necessary' jobs just before I started Uni. It was a huge scam - I went for the first 2 days of training and left.
Be very very careful. If they're not telling you what they want you to do, it's because they think it's going to put you off. By all means, check them out to satisfy your own curiosity but tread carefully.:fingerscrossed:

Hi
I got stung by a data entry online job thing. It was called Datacash or something like that and they sent an email about it, that's how I found out about it. $150 they took and I got nothing in return. So much for their cash-back policy and satisfaction guarantee!!!
Be very very careful. I am now very sceptical of all work from home things. I'm doing Avon at the moment but you don't make that much commission off what you sell. But then again, every little bit helps I guess.
Good luck finding something though, and please let us know if you do!!!

There's a simple rule of thumb:
There is no shortage of unskilled middlemen (middlewomen?) in the labour market, and there are no genuine businesses that need them.
Think about it: if you could make a useful amount of money doing it at home with the resources you have available, then a real company could scale up the efficiency and productivity a hundredfold doing it themselves with full-time staff.
It's a jungle out there - there's no money lying around to be scooped up for minimal effort. Any tasty luscious fruit you see unguarded and unclaimed just lying there ready to be eaten... is very obviously bait.
Real jobs don't sell themselves to people. The purpose of a job interview is not to induce you to take the job, it's to find reasons why they shouldn't hire you. If they aren't doing their best to eliminate you from their consideration, it's a scam.
Real jobs don't make employees buy materials to resell or process. Real jobs don't offer recruitment bonuses to employees for inducing others to join up.
Real jobs are really, really hard to get. If it's not an uphill struggle to even get an interview, it's a scam.
Imagine you had a nice little business going, and needed some staff to do the gruntwork. How would you advertise the position?
Most of them are scams. Basically you are scamming people in to scam other people to scam other people. In a lot of cases there is no real product worth selling - just selling the scam.
Either that or selling products to others to sell products to other to sell products.
What they want you to do is cast the net as wide as possible and drag in others.
I'd be looking at something a bit more reputable, something that is yours and that you get satisfaction from.

thanks guys for the responses, i want to do something from home but i really have no idea what, i guess i'll have to put my thinking cap on :D

Sorry to interrupt your stream of generalisations there, but the company I work for (one of Australia's largest telcos) offers "recruitment bonuses". My job is most definitely a "real job", I've been doing it for over three years. If you refer a friend for a position and they are in that position for over three months, you get a $500 bonus. My partner's company is the same.
Hey darkstar,
The company I work for does that too, and they are a large, reputable company. I'm fortunate to be allowed to work from home with them.
I think what we're referring to, and Mister Noodle please correct me if I'm wrong, are the MLM type "Work From Home" schemes that are advertised, the ones that tell you nothing till you sign up for them. Some of them aren't selling any products at all - rather they are encouraging you to rope other people in so they rope more people in. I signed up once and cancelled the next day. They flooded my inbox with rubbish.
 DS, That's an amazing story...the business must go through a lot of "currency agents" :D . Sorry for your SIL though :( .
Cheers

There's others out there as well, though - they aren't outright illegal, or even MLM - they just make you buy all your own equipment/materials/etc from them, pay your own postage / bandwidth, do all your own legwork and take all the risks.
It's a bit as though Woollies were offering home business packages: we'll sell you apples at retail prices, you buy one of our little stands, then you go and rent a market stall yourself, do all the paperwork yourself, arrange your own transport, and we'll allow you to keep any profit you manage to make!
For a good laugh (though only vaguely ontopic), check out http://www.419eater.com/html/letters.htm
yep, i found one and now i love it. i looked in the paper when i was on maternity leave. i was also sceptical and so i took my time at looking! so it was a few months after answering the ad that i actually took the plunge and ordered a decision pack.
Now, i have joined the business and it's the best thing i have ever done. Yes, some are scams so you do need to be careful but there are some others which are real businesses.
The majority of them are in network marketing which means whilst you sell products to make a profit, there is also a chance to train others to do the same and earn a bonus payment for doing that. Be very careful of those that don't sell a product(as this is then classed as a pyramid scheme) and also you need to like the industry they are in. The majority of them are in the health and wellness industry which is actual pretty successful considering all the overweight and unhealthy people out there today.
Anyway, if you have your eye on one but are not sure, PM me and i'll let you know if i've heard of it ( i know most of them out there now!!) and if it;s a scam or not!!
good luck hunting!!!
Emma.

Hey guys
Just letting you know I do avon and it works for me......you have to find what you like doing and give it a go. Do be wary of pyramid schemes...they are the real trap....if its a ligitimate business you are safer but not always safe.
Read and find out as much info as you can before you start.
Bye!

I've done a few work from home jobs.....i did one with a company called Cash Junkies which did actually pay me for all the work i did, which was mostly typing ads and recruiting others to do so, but the work was very tiresome and could take hours to get $20...but they did pay every cent i was entitled to, for the work and the reruits....but it wasnt for me.
I also did Melaleuca which was great in that i loved the products and it was only a $50 outlay....but the products were very expensive and you had to order a points value worth of product every month to stay active.......got very tough on th budget.
At the moment i am doing scrapbooking party plan and i love it, but i prefer doing it part time and am now looking for a part time job to fit around my kids...not easy as u all know.
So they arent all scams...but yes, most are.
Good luck....
