Apologies in advance for a question that's probably been answered a million times!
First bub is due end of October and I definately want to use MCN's from the word go. Only problem is that I've gone and confused myself with information overload.
So far I'm interested in Bitti D'Lish, Bum Genius, Baby Beehinds & Bubblebubs. Have been choosing a variation of pockets and all in ones but what I'm finding the real challenge is knowing how to get the most for my $$$'s in the first few weeks/months.
Would prefer not to use prefolds but how am I meant to know what size fits on a bub that is still growing so rapidly? Should I just bite the bullet and fork out for newborn sizes or are there any workable alternatives?
Also if anyone had any general advice on numbers to buy in preparation would be much appreciated.

Baby Beehinds fitteds can be used on newborns:yes: (do you mean the fitteds or the magicalls?)I wouldnt get newborn sizes, maybe a few smalls then go with mainly mediums, but then again it depends if you have a small or bigger bub(6 compared to 9 pounds for example) as to what will last longer. The Baby Beehinds fitteds are a one size nappy where as the d'lish are sized. Not sure about the other two. The d'lish are very trim and seem alot smaller than other similar sized nappies I have got. I was going to suggest flats or prefolds with good covers for newborns lol but you said you would prefer not to. As for numbers I think the general theory is you can never have too many :p
I just read to expect 10-12 changes for a newborn a day, and to factor in how often you will be washing, so about 24 to start off with then build up from there.

Thanks Onemummy. I had been thinking of the BBH fitteds to begin with and think I will go straight to the smalls.
My doc says he won't know what size little fella I should be expecting for atleast a few weeks more but I really need (want) to start building a stash!:D
As for the thought to prefolds, truth is the concept just scares me witless... new baby, no sleep, trying to keep it as simple as poss so we're not overwhelmed... like that will make the difference between overwhelmed and not.
Any other thoughts for average size newborns?

some ladies say not to use mcn on newborns due to the type of poos they do, as they may stain. i dont know if you want to use a liner or not. some mummies say to use terry flats when they are newborn and upgrade to mcn.
i myself am a mummy to be for the first time and i just went out and got all BBH as they are one size. nice and simple. i will use home made liners out of microfleece, to help with the stain issues. i also have terry flats as well. i just dont wanna take my whole stash to the hospital with me so i will take terry flats instead and use mcn when im home.

I'm going to make a few mcn pockets for my newborn for when we go out, and at home we'll be using flats. I'm thinking for the flats I'll make quite a few hemp jersey ones so that they can then be used for stuffing pockets and things like that when bubs gets too big.
I used BB fitteds on DS at night when he was little, now they're his daytime nappy but the new baby will be using them at night.
Greenkids do OSFA, so will last bubs right through, some cute night nappies are these (http://www.wahmnaps.com/product.php?VP=3353) ones which I just bought 3 for DS and if we find out what we're having I'm going to get some more for the little one. :D The size range is really wide too so they'll last, I'm hoping for a little girl this time because that pink one is ADORABLE!!! :goodvibes:
Oh, and I never had any trouble with newborn poos staining the fabric on anything, I always hung them out in the sunshine and they were bright and white. Once the babies get older tho, that's a different story! :dizzy:

you wont know what size bub is til they are born;) I reckon the baby beehinds are a good idea because they are quite adjustable. Then some small covers and medium covers and then you can add in some pretty ones:D

Thanks everyone.
I've finally put the credit card down and ordered some babybeehinds while they are on special and think I will just bite the bullet over the coming months and start building a stash for newborn and beyond.:yelclap:
Also re-doing my homework on flats and folds and some very cute covers that are out there.
