Does anyone actually eat these?
I tried to make one this morning and it was pretty vile. I dunno, maybe I am just a "whole-egg" kind of girl.
Any tips for getting it to taste nice, but not be too high in cals?

I just had one!
Though I probably wouldn't call it an omelette-it was just egg whites mixed together and fried on a non stick pan. I had it with 2 small pieces of lean short cut bacon, I grilled tomato, afew grilled mushrooms and half a baby can of baked beans.
Much healthier than your usual big breakfast but still a satisfying meal that will carry you over a few hours happily :)
Just popped the details into calorie king just for fun and this what it came back with
Total cals:221
Total fat:10.4g (1/2 tb/s olive oil)
Protein: 17.9g
Carb: 14.6g
Fibre:4.3g
I'm not sure how strict you are but it's balanced enough for me & at 221 cals-a bargain!:)

I would load it up with bacon and salt..
But i spose that defeats the purpose doesn't it.. :p
What did you put in it??
Some thinly shaved lean ham would add alot of flavour as well as the salt content, some mushies, finely chopped capsicum, and tomatos (no seeds, to watery) is always a nice combination..
Is that still healthy enough??
Another thing i like is a few spoons of creamed corn mixed through the egg mix.. Gives a yummy flavour and is good on its own and with the vegies/ham..

I always make scrambeled egg whites. and it has only 4 grams of fat in it.
i just put 3 egg whites
a little bit of skim milk
half a tomato
bit of pepper
and fry all that in a non stick fry pan (no oil needed then...)
and i just cook a piece of wholemeal toast, put avocado on it, put the eggs on and then a couple of olives on top...
tastes awesome to me.. i might have it now actually
or if u REALLY HAVE TO have some flavour, just have one whole egg and 1 or 2 egg whites. or even only a some of the yolk...

Some tomatoes and capsicum sounds good, I might try that next time.

bacon sort of defeats the purpose of it being healthy.... lot of fat in bacon..

Just for the record one serve of the bacon I use contains:
26 cals, 0.8 g fat, 5.2g protein & 0.4 g carbs
so not all bacon is full of fat-but you got me on the sodium;)
I think it's all about moderation, if a small serve of bacon will make your breaky more palatable then chuck it in-it's surely better than force feeding something that tastes vile and then bingeing on something else later because you feel unsatisfied :)

If I was going to eat bacon, I'd just have the bacon and skip the rest!
No, I'm trying to keep away from the naughty things, so bacon is out for sure. I was hoping the egg white omelette would save me...cos I so love having eggs for breakfast. But it is just so bland...that I think I would probably prefer cereal (which i also am not a fan of!)
Why is breakfast so hard? I'm just not good at it, don't really like any of the conventional things. Sigh.
