I'm warning you now this is quite long so be prepared to be here for a while. Also be prepared for some laughs.

30th June

4:40am My waters broke... i felt a leak like i had wet myself layed their for a little while then woke up luke [dh] and asked him to see if it had or not. He got up and turned the light on and was like "YES GET UP!!". He went and rang the hospital and they said "to come over and pop a pad on." I went and had a shower shaved my legs, underarms and thought about washing my hair but decided that i had already taken too long. Got out of the shower and got luke to get everything ready and put it in the car, even though he wanted to leave it at home. We left for the hospital a 20 min drive. When we got to the hospital we went straight into the labour ward and into the monitoring room where they put me onto a ctg machine to monitor contractions and Aysha's heartbeat. Whilst their they also did a swab to see if my waters had actually broken. They did the swab was black as it could get and i was 1 cm dilated. Since my contractions weren't that strong they sent us home and told us to come back when the contractions got worse. So off we went back home. Got home at about 7:30am had something to eat. The contractions were starting to get stronger, so i sent luke off to go and find a stop watch so i could time the contractions better. He took forever to find one because no shops were open. At 9:30am he got home and the contractions were getting stronger but still a little irregular about 1 - 2 mins apart. I tried heat packs at home but they did nothing! At 10:30am i said to luke can we go to the hospital cause these are getting worse. So we went back to the hospital and they put us in birth suite 2. They checked out Aysha's heartbeat and the midwife monitored my contractions and because they were still a bit irregular they said i either had a choice of going back home or staying on the ward. I chose to stay on the ward as i didn't want to keep travelling back and forth from home to the hospital. They put me in room 4 bed b in with a lady who had already had a baby. I felt bad because she had to put up with my moaning and groaning. Luke went to target to go and get some leggings as i was worried that Aysha wouldn't have her going home outfit. Whilst luke was away the contractions were getting worse so i sent him a text and told him to hurry up. About 15mins later he turned up and his parents were also their. They came into the room which i wasn't overly pleased about. The contractions were getting stronger and were painful. So luke's parents left. I got luke to call the midwife because the contractions were stronger and getting more regular. So they took me over to the birthing suite. Where a midwife monitored my contractions and checked to see how dilated i was. 3cm's dilated yay things were moving along. It was now about 1:30pm because mum had turned up. The contractions were getting alot more regular now and i needed to start breathing through them. It was now time for the midwives to change shifts. At about 2:30 Donna the new midwife i had ran me a bath to help ease off some of the pain from the contractions. At first it did then the contractions started to get stronger and the water wasn't helping much so i asked for gas. I stayed in the bath for a bit longer until the water started to cool down. As soon as i got out of the bath i had a contraction and boy did it hurt. The water had helped after all. Once out of the bath i sat on a chair leaning over the back rest. Mum massaged my back when the contractions came and i sucked down on the gas. Luke was telling me over and over "your doing so well i love you." Not long after that i started to feel sick and had to get mum to get me the bin and lucky i did as soon as she gave it to me i was sick. about half hour of sitting on the chair the midwife said that they wanted to give me something to move things along for me. So a dr came in and put a cannula in my hand to induce labour. They got me to lay on the bed to check to see how dilated i was. I was only 7cms i was so annoyed i thought i would have been further along than that considering it was now about 6:30pm. I stayed on the bed and the contractions were getting alot more intense so i asked for the morphine shot. which they gave me and that did nothing so i was still sucking on the gas with every contraction. I was so exhausted and was struggling to stay awake. I started to get the urge to push and i was only 8cm dilated and i wasn't allowed. I was so annoyed i was shaking my head like saying "don't tell me not to push!" I couldn't talk because the contractions hurt so much. I don't remember alot after this because i was so out of it and struggling to keep my eyes open. I remember being told i was allowed to push because i was doing some pushing when i was told not to so they kind of gave in and let me do what i wanted. After about 5 and a half hours of pushing and nothing really happening , they called a dr who came in and checked how i was doing. And to see why Aysha's head wasn't coming out. She told me that Aysha was posterior and every time i pushed she would move down but then she would move back up again. So she informed me that they had to take me to theatre and would try and deliver her by forceps. If she didn't come out in oe pull then i would have to have a c-section. I had to sign a form and they put me onto a bed and they pushed me down to theatre. I was still pushing. once in theatre they put me onto yet another bed and gave me a spinal tap which is where they put morphine straight into your spine. Once they did that the pain was gone it was such a relief. they moved and prodded me around and i remember Luke coming in and then being told Aysha was born and being asked what we were going to call her. Then having a hold of her and getting photo's taken, then her and Luke being taken away and i was put into recovery and the rest is a blur.

Aysha Rose was born on the 30th June at 11:09pm at 3360grams around 7pound 7 by forceps. After a 19 hour labour and 6 hours of pushing. I had 5 stitches on the outside and 14 on the inside... which left me quite sore well i still am actually.

Despite having a fairly rough labour i would do it all over again to have my little girl in my arms.
