Make your own environmentally friendly dishwashing liquid for approximately 20 cents!

You will need:
An old clean dishwashing liquid squirt bottle
2 cups very hot water
2 tablespoons Lectric soda crystals
1 tablespoon White vinegar
1 tablespoon Pure soap flakes
1 drop of Tea Tree oil (optional)
Add soap flakes, soda crystals and vinegar to hot water and stir until dissolved. Add oil last. Pour into the container and thats it!

Add a small squirt to running water. This recipe isn't very bubbly, but remember the bubbles don't do the cleaning!

TIP: The gel will set into a white gel like liquid. Once set close the lid and give the bottle a really good SHAKE! To break it up a bit.

TIP: Not suitable for the dishwasher. Hand washing only

Has anyone tried it? Does it work?

Do you have to use tea tree oil or can it be substituted with something citrusy? I'm sure I read somewhere about a lemon oil that's even better at disinfecting than tea tree is...:detective:

I have only used the tea tree but I can't see why you could not use something citrusy

You could substitute, or belnd, any of the following with tea tree oil.

Orange
Lemon
Lemon myrtle
Cedarwood (smells great too!)
May Chang
Mandarin
Lime
Niaouli (sp)
Tangerine

and there would be many others if you had them on hand.
