I'm desperate for some help or feedback from you guys! My two year old is obsessed with food. She has always been on the nintieth percentile for height and weight, but she is out of control. I feed her five times a day, and if she doesn't eat her meal, then there is no more until the next meal. Eg, if she doesn't eat her sandwich for lunch, no more food until afternoon tea time. I don't think I am being unreasonable. But now, I have to lock the fridge and pantry to stop her helping herself - so she got into the freezer and I caught her eating frozen butter!! Surely she cannot be this hungry. I feed her healthy food 90% of the time, so she shouldn't be lacking in anything. What is going on? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Anyone got any ideas on how to deal with it? I am due for baby number three in a few weeks and would like to be on top of this. Looking forward to any feedback you can give me.
My daughter who is 4 on Monday has always been obsessed with food. She has never got into froven butter though:eek: I am constantly hearing "I'm hungery" 5 min after she has eaten breakfast. It is so frustrating:banghead:
You seam to handle it the same way I do; offer healthy food ( with the odd exception), try to stick to set meals (eg breakfast, moningtea etc..)
I have spoken to my Dr many times and she has reasured me that she is perfectly healthy.
If you are worried get you Dr to take a look at her or get a referal to a pead.
Good luck I know exatly what you are going through.

Don't want to worry you as it may just be a phase...
But I saw this episode of Dr Phil (lol...yeah it's not that crazy, keep reading!) where a little girl was OBSESSED with eating and could not stop. She had something missing in her brain...the part that tells her that she is full...and therefore she feels hungry all the time. It's a proper disease and has a name (though I'm unsure as to what it is - sorry!).
Maybe you should go to the doctor. If it STILL occurs a bit down the track, I'd get it looked into. Maybe it's a psychological issue.

Maybe she is a typical hungry tiny tot... :p or maybe, despite feeding her healthy food, she is lacking some kind of essential nutrient... hmmm, whats in butter... maybe she's not getting enough fat?
Anyway, I'm certainly no expert, but probably not something to be too stressed out about...? have you taken her to see a Dr or CHN? Could be something quite normal and simple.
Sorry, probably an utterly useless post...:D

Yes i saw that too. The condition was called "Prader Willi Syndrom" The symptoms were extreamly small hands and feet (out of perportion to the body) and the child had slight mental retardation.
