how 2 make a budget

can anyone give me tips or a site on how to make a budget? one that covers rent,bills and shopping? thanks :)

There are a lot of budget planning sites

and most banks have a budget planner

- but i found the simplest and most useful one to use for myself was one I made up in excel.

I just did our budget myself. First of all I sat down and worked out our fixed weekly payments eg Mortgage, Personal Loans and Health Insurance. Then with what was left over, I divided it up into $20 - $50 amounts and allocated that money to bills and groceries etc.

$150.00 Rent/Mortgage
$ 90.00 Personal Loans
$100.00 Groceries
$ 40.00 Power Bill
$ 20.00 Phone Bill

Etc etc. This is just an example, not our actual budget but I found it so much easier to just work it out myself than to follow a set plan like what I found on websites.

Hope this helps :thumbsup: If you're like me, you'll feel so much better after working it out, you'll know where your money's going and maybe even end up with more 'pocket' money than you had before :)
