I read somewhere that you should do OPK after 2pm is that true? Also is it better if you do or dont drink a lot of water earlier in that day, will that affect it?
Any other basic info would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi Jamaica
I have read that the best time is between 2 and 4 pm and to reduce your liquid intake for 2 hours before you test. I have tested at 11am in the past and had a negative but by 2.30 is was a :bfp: however the Clearblue digital tests allow you to use FMU.

Man, they never work for me. Even the digital which told me I was fertile WAY after I had O'd...

Anytime after 10am is best. I have heard some people like to do them around 4 just because it's right before dinner, but you can still not drink the 2 hours before.
I do mine around 4-5pm.
Just don't use your FMU

i was told that if you do it twice a day that it is more acurate. not too sure if that is true. but same limit your fluid intake 2 hours before

well I ordered some OPKs online yesterday so now Im hoping they get here by Friday but if not we plan to BD every second night from CD 12 & OPks should be here monday at the very latest. I might test twice a day for this month so I get a better idea of how it works etc as this is my first month with OPK and temping, plus I got 20 tests for about $10 so its not gona break the bank.

hey jamaica... i hope they arrive soon!
is anyone able to offer an explanation as to why u can't use FMU and why u can't drink for two hours before hand?
Jamaica i bought some internet cheapies as well, and wanted to do them twice a day, but its just not possible because i don't want to do them at work .. i'm also really struggling with the not drinking for two hours... i have a drink strapped to my hand almost the entire day! I hope you find it easier to do... :fingerscrossed: u get ur BFP this month!

Hey Trix they recommend avoiding liquid as it can dilute your wee and not give such an accurate reading. You want your wee a medium yellow, not really strong and not weak (sorry TMI).
I know what you mean about using the OPK's at work but i am doing it and funny story, i lost the wee cup on the way back from the bathroom!! I panicked and re-traced my steps thinking "oh god there is going to be a group of people standing around pointing and wondering what it is" and couldnt find it anywhere! I went back to my desk defeated and luckily it had rolled out my pocket and onto the floor under my desk. No one had seen it  Pretty funny but i am still going to do them at work, just be more careful with the cup!!!

ness27 - how funny! Can you get midstream OPK?? Like the HPT you just pee on and dont need a cup for? If so maybe you should invest in some of those ones :D
trixie - Lucky for me Im at home most of the time as Im a student so I can test anytime but the not drinking for 2hours will be a real pain the butt especially if im testing twice a day, thats 4hrs a day with no fluids :(
But I think Ill test twice a day cos Ive heard some of the cheapie OPK never get as dark as the control line so I dont want to miss it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

i only get positives on supermarket tests (that can be expensive) as the internet ones done show up for me.
Good luck

Good question Jamaica  I have been testing for 8 days and have had a few "almost" positives but nothing definite. The first lot were internet cheapies and the last 4 have been First Response which have been consistently darker than the cheapies. I am on CD21 of a 34 day cycle so surely i would have O'd by now :detective: I don't want to stop though in case i miss the surge....it's a vicious cycle.
