I wear no uniforms, no blues or army greens.
But I am in the military in the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders. Salutes I do not give.
But the military world is the place where I live.
I’m not in the chain of command, orders I do not get.
But my husband is the one who does this I cannot forget.
I’m not the ones who fires the weapons, who puts my life on the line.
But my job is just as tough. I’m the one that’s left behind.
My husband is a patriot, a brave and prideful man
And the call to serve his country, not all can understand.
Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep this country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do our kids and me.
I love the man I married. Soldiering is his life.
But I stand among the silent ranks
Known as the Military wife.

That is very strong and describes it wonderfully. I am not a military wife, but I can imagine it would be tough. I feel so proud of the armed forces, men and women, and also the wifes/hubby's that are left behind while they are away.

Hi,

Totally understand the poem as I to am a military wife and I thought I might have a better understandng having served in the navy myself, but the two experiences are totally different and I have a far greater respect for those that stay behind. Whilst I suport my husband the best I can whilst he is deployed, there is really very little support for me.

So thankyou for the poems post, at least I know that I'm not the only one which helps me remember there are many other military partners/wives/ and spouse out there doing tough

ummm... I posted a great story on a thread somewhere here about what it means to be a millitary wife. But now it seems to have disappeared. I should have kept a copy of it but didn't, and I can't find where I got it from. Can anyone help me out?
