Paed. in Brisbane who looks after Kids with GDD.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good Paed. who deals with Chidlren with GDD, (Global Developmental Delayed).

We currently see a Paed. but he is more of a General Paed. Just wondering if anyone knows of any Paed.

We don't see our Paed. for another week or so.

Im in the same boat as you. My DS is GDD and we are getting him tested for autism.

Im on the waiting list to see Dr Heide Webster at Mater Private. She deals with children with special needs. I havent seen her yet. My Dr. referred me to her last week.

They told me you need to see her for one appt that goes for 1 hr which cost $300 but get $200 back from medicare. But you may require another two appts if they need to further diagnose and recommend the best treatment, which will cost about the same amount.

Its alot of money but the paed we see is also a general child paed which is not helping, im prepared to do the best for my child.

Also I have been given a referral to a ECDU playgroup, which is for kids with special needs, he will be attending in a couple of weeks then when DS turns 3 it will be a classroom setting.

I am like you, don't think our Paed is helping much in the area we need. He was great at getting us Hearing Test under Sedation really fast for DD.

But now, we need to focus on DD's Developement Skills. Like you, willing to pay alot to get the Help DD needs.
