Hi Everyone,

Just needing some advice/reassurance/guidance/HELP.

This month I decided to use Fortel Ovulation kits. I have a 30 day cycle - no idea of when I normally ovulate. I started testing on day 11 and today is day 19. I have tested most day and nights, although in the beginning just mornings. I have bought 2 kits, and still have not had a positive result.

If anyone has had any experience with these tests or similar, please help me. Or, if anyone has a 30 day cycle, could you please tell me what days I am likely to ovulate.

Am starting to really worry that something is wrong with me.

Thanks
Bigtum

The typical luteal phase is 9 - 16 days, which is the time between ovulation and the start of your next period. For me, my last cycle was 32 days long and I ovulated on day 23, with a 9 day luteal phase. Your luteal phase is apparently very predictable. However, the day of ovulation can vary, that is what makes the length of your cycle vary. I don't think there is anything wrong with you because you haven't ovulated by day 19. I suspect you'll most likely ovulate in the next few days if your normal cycle length is 30 days.

I should add that those tests aren't that great in terms of accuracy (not bad, but far from 100% accurate) and checking your temps and seeing your temp go up is a much better way to know you've ovulated. Yes, the temp rises the day AFTER ovulation, so it's only help in retrospect, but it means that you can accurately work out your luteal phase length and you can predict the day of ovulation for the next month.

Thanks heaps Mim. That is really comforting to know that you ovulate later - fingers crossed that I do too. Thanks for explaining the luteal phase, Ihad know idea what this was.

Thanks for your support, I will keep you posted.

Hi bigtum2b

I have a 24-31 day cycle and usually ovulate CD 12-14 but last month I thought I wasn't going to o at all but in fact o'd CD 20. I used some OPKs which picked up nothing, not even a faint line but I was also using a Maybe Baby and had the correct ferning pattern leading up to and at o time. I was also charting and monitoring CM so I knew I did o but was surprised it was so late. Apparently it doesn't matter what day you o on as long as your LP remains the same.

Good luck

I went through packets of those kits and never had a positive result.

In the end I gave up and starting charting and watching my body changes.

After all that kerfuffle it turns out I must have ovulated later than I thought anyway!! so it was all a big effort for nothing because we pretty much fluked it in the end.

Good luck.

Hey Bigtum2b I used OPK's for the first time last month (internet purchased ones). I usually have a 32 day cycle and tested in the afternoon from CD11 - CD18 without getting anything. CD19 I got a light line and CD20 got a line almost as dark as test line. CD21 got a lighter line. So I figured I O somewhere around CD20-CD22.
Good luck :fingerscrossed:
