Does anyone have someone come to do cleaning at their house? I'm interested in getting someone regular to come in, so my questions are:

1. What do you get done?

2. How often?

3. Who do you get (private, franchise, etc)?

4. How much do you pay?

Thankyou!

Jo

Hi Notchalk

We get someone in. They do the bathrooms, kitchen, vacuum, dust, wash floors and back patio, empty bins and take out the recycling. We get them in every fortnight (the end of the week is good in case you've got ppl coming on the WE, but Fridays are the busiest day). They are a franchise, just recetnly changed hands and I miss the old person but the new ones are OK.

We pay $50 per visit for 3 bed/1 bath and they bring all their own cleaning equipment and materials.

Cheers

I get a lovely lady in, once a fortnight. This has been just since I've been pregnant, and will probably continue until bub is 6 months old-ish. She's from an agency. She does my bathroom/toilet/handbasin area, mops all the hard floors in the house (we have slate right through) and vaccuums the bedroom and loungeroom carpets. She also has been known to do my dishes if there were any in the sink :o Also if she has time she dusts. She usually is here for 2.5 hours, which costs me $50, and she uses my cleaning equipment (which isn't much; the mop and bucket, the vaccuum, some disinfectant and some shower cleaner stuff.) :)

I have a house cleaner/gardner through an agency as well...

Mine does everything: bathrooms, vacuums, mops, windows, bins, irons, washing, dusting, does the garden, outside entertaining area, etc etc etc

The only thing DF and I have to do is pack and unpack the dishwasher and cook dinner

This is done once a week at a costly $$$ but needs to be done....

Diamonds22 I KNOW! It's horrid but has to be done. I really think my mild PND would be improved by someone taking that load off. I hate living in mess, but I hate doing anything about it - or when I get in the mood, I get interrupted so often that nothing gets finished.

I'm going to post this on another site too, to get more ideas of cost, etc.

Thanks guys!

An interesting topic - I get someone in to help me out, it is just casual and as we live in a country area we don't have agencies - just people that we know are looking for a bit of work

The lady who has been helping me here and there for nearly two years is leaving town :( - BUT - Today I had a new lady come that she recommended - and she was brilliant!

I get help with all different stuff - today was a massive day of setting up a new filing system etc - she was here from 9:30 - 3:30 (with about an hour off in the middle) and charged me $60

Such a help with the bubba getting closer!

And I know it helps her too as she appreciated the work (not many jobs our way)

My mum gets a lovely woman in once a fortnight for $25 to vacuum, wash floors, dust and do bathroom and toilets. Mum only has a three bedroom 1 bathroom house but it still sounds like she is on to a good thing price wise based on some of the other replies on this thread.

Out of interest do any of you find yourselves 'cleaning up' before the cleaner comes???:o

that sounds fantastic. i would love someone like that. i am looking for a cleaner, but kind of waiting for word of mouth, rather than an agency. but if i get desperate enough i'll go to an agency

YES!!!! - Hilarious LOL :)

Mysonroger - I recommend sussing out a person for yourself as you can often agree to terms easily - I guess it depends on what you are comfortable with

I always ask for and take a photocopy of their drivers license saying "don't be offended I do this to everyone" - no-one has complained yet and then they know I am serious about security etc

I also let them know straight up of my expectations and tell them to let me know if they have any problems etc

I guess my point is that if you are not dealing with an agency you need to be able to say how you want things done etc

I could imagine that would be a good motivator - you need to tidy the place so they can vacuum properly, etc. At least, that's what I'm hoping. I need that kind of motivation!

Yeah I tidy up before she gets there. But it's mostly because I'm paying her by the hour so I only want her to do the "big jobs" that I don't want to do ie mopping and vaccuuming. The "paying her by the hour" thing is also why I always go out and take Vallerie with me when the cleaner is here LOL Vallerie always wants to "do a dance" for her or "have a chatter" with her

I would love a cleaning service to clean my home... but when I think I would prefer an ironing lady before a cleaning lady.... We hope to be able to hire one later this year once we have built up our business a little more.... we just finding it difficult to find the time to clean, iron, etc.... We are mostly working 7 days a week and I also have another job, although that will end in August approx.... I must say that I prefer that I clean (as I know it's done properly) :D

I was going to start a thread and then found this one. :detective:

So I'm looking at getting someone in once a fortnight to do the big jobs.
I have no idea where to begin looking, especially since I am security conscious.
But with 2 kids, studies and running a small business, I'm really struggling with the housework. And then when the house is messy or dirty, I get even more stressed. I feel bad for DH as well who will not complain and try to pick p the slack where I fail... but at the end of the day, he works full-time too. It would be nice to have someone to come in and lighten the cleaning fortnightly at least.

Anybody know where I can enquire?
The internet seems to be useless for this.
