Hey guys.. I need some advice on what to do for my baby shower... I dont have anyone here in Toowoomba who I know to organise it so i am doing it myself as my family live about 3 hours away.. they are all coming but I am going to organise it.

What do you normally do in a baby shower? Do you have a list of presents you want? do you have games?? I have done some research on the net but I am still totally lost.. can anyone help??

Thanks

Hey there mrsbutterflygirl...

You can do whatever you like at your baby shower...

For my baby shower, we had about 3 games:
* bingo
* nappy changing
* pass the parcel type game, but each layer had a question, and the person that got it right opened the next layer...

Just make sure you have a fun day and there are people there to help you, so you are not run off your feet..

PM if you need more info...

Good luck

Hey ....Heres a few games

* peg game- give 5 pegs to ppl when they arrive and get them to place them on their clothes....when somebody says the word "baby" and you hear it, you go and grab their peg.....Whoever has the most pegs and the end wins a prize.....
Quite funny and fustrating game....hahahaha
Instead of using the word "baby" you can do it for any body crosses the legs then you can pinch their peg..

* Paper plate baby picture- Give everyone a paper plate get them to place it on top of their head and draw a baby....(this is quite tricky) sounds easy but wait till you see the results hahahaha ......You then pick the best picture without knowing who's who..

* Guess the baby's weight, length, time of birth and sex

* Dummy game - Get everbody to bring a dummy along and place it in a hat you then pull a dummy out giving the winner a prize

* Baby Picture - Get the guests to bring a picture and everyone has to guess whos who

Good luck !!

Need help .....pm me.....:D

Hello! Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS!

At my baby shower (organised by a mate), we played the peg game as above but instead of pegs we used those big nappy pins. I was highly amused watching everyone run around busting each other and fighting over pins...

Another game we played was scrambling words associated with babies/motherhood/pregnancy/birth and giving a list out and having the guests try to figure out what the words were. Person who had the most words right won a prize.

I had a pre-natal heart listening system that I bought from K-Mart and so everyone at my baby shower had a listen to my DS's heartbeat.

We too, did the put the paper plate on your head and draw a baby. Not one of them resembled a baby, I might add.

Another thing we did was gave everyone a piece of paper and got them to write down 'advice' for me to open after my DS was born.

My mates also organised a 'roster' of people to come over and help me out during the first two weeks - eg. someone to come over and do the housework/washing one day, one person who would cook me up loads of food for freezing, someone who would look after baby so I could have a sleep, etc etc.

Everyone asks, of course, what you still need for the baby etc, I kept asking everyone to buy packs of disposable nappies or wipes etc. I ended up getting the first three months supply of disposable nappies, plus loads of other things that I might need like - nappy rash creams, baby powders, bibs, baby bath wash, nappy sacks, etc.

Good luck organising your baby shower, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful day!!

Hi!

I didn't have a baby shower so cant tell you what happened at mine but heres some ideas I have heard of:

* Guess sex, weight, date and a present after birth for the one who guesses closest (thats the only activity I know)

* I have heard of women asking for beads from the women in their family and other women friends to bead onto a bracelet as a token of their wishes and love for the new baby and wishes for the mother in birth.

* Some women as for poems and such for the baby and then scrapbook them.

* Do up a pressie list or register if you have things you particularly want if you like.

* If you dont know what you want and have everything, perhaps get people to put money towards something big like a doulas services for example or an active birthing class or a housekeeper for 2 months, nappy wash service for 2 months or something like that - something that will be really useful for you.

Ultimately, its your day so have a blast and do what ever you want! :yelclap:

i organised mine too. we had a tarot card reader come for the day. she charged $20 for 15 mins and i'd say 80% of the people who came where only more than happy to pay - it was a lot of fun. i wasn't really into the regular baby shower games. the only theme type thing i did was make cupcakes, half of which had pink icing the others blue. everyone took whatever they thought i wasoing to have, i picked blue and had a girl!

i also did a gift registry at babies galore, which was good with the younger people who are internet savvy. that being said we weren't too impressed with their service.
