Hi People

I bought a steamer the other day as I decided its time to stop boiling the goodness out of my vegies. My question is, do I keep the lid on or leave it off. I steamed some carrots the other day, with the lid off and it took a loooooong time

Thanks
Sharon

Yeah I leave the lid on, keeps the steam in there and cooks them quicker .

Also, the water in the bottom (if it's gone green or orange) is vegetable stock!! You can freeze it in icetrays (obviously marked clearly as VEGE STOCK or else hubby puts vege water in his coke LOL actually that would be quite funny...... sorry, off track:p )

I just started steaming the veges about 2 weeks ago when I discovered I had a steamer in my cupboard...Its amazing what you find when you are looking for something else ... Anyway...:ecomcity: It is awesome. Definently need the lid on though otherwise your steam just drifts away into the air - It only takes about 10 minutes to cook the veges & you will not believe - My hubby has been eating them aswell...This is someone who all his life the only vegetable he ate was Potato... But I do have to put a gravy or cheese sauce on though but still, he is still eating the veges :-) and he has lost a couple of kilos :smiliedance:
