i used to work in child care for a few years and loved it!

however, you have to research your centres well to make sure you are comfortable with it. Drop in and ask to be shown around, look at how the staff interact with the children, how are they talking to them, are they getting down to their level and interacting? are they friendly and do the children seem to react well to them...?

regardelss of if i am working or not i want to put my children in a centre for 1-2 days a week for the social benefits for them. that is as long as we can afford it!

their time is more than just babysitting, staff are well trained and look at their develoment and plan activities to enhance any areas they may be falling a little behind in...

There is a whole section on this forum on childcare. Perhaps if you were more specific with your question and explained what and why you want to know we could be of more assistance.

Sorry guys, i didn't know there was a childcare forum. To be more specific i am writing an article on childcares to be put in a magazine (i am only a uni student!!!) but there are people saying that they are bad for children, people saying that they are good for social interaction and other people having bad experiences.

I dont want my story to be bias, so this is why i posted this thread. Any information about experiences or veiws would greatly appreciated.

THANKYOU

My son has been in childcare part-time since he was almost 5 months old. At 22 months, I am incredibly proud of his development.

Whether his character, playfulness and good manners are due to exposure to childcare or are simply part of him and our home life, I really don't know.

What I do know is the centre he goes to is absolutely fantastic, I have no reservations with them whatsoever and I can only see that it has benefited him - no negatives here.
