TS - Where did you get your Snug as a Bug from, I just saw them online and they are adorable :D

They were both given to me,
seriously they were the most useful present ever. They keep bub so warm, They can still be buckled into the car seat or pram, and you dont have to wrap anything.
I'd definetly get one if the price is good. I'd offer you my pink one but it was a present from my grandma and so will get passed around my family.

they're only $30! :smiliedance: A bit exy for a wrap, but this wrap looks like the be all and end all of wraps!

I have a snug as a bug wrap and they are great, especially as we're having winter bubs!
I'm not going to put my hospital bag checklist up as its been packed for a good cpl of months now and used quite a few times already for hospital stays... everyone seems to have covered what you need.
Best to check with your individual hospital to see what they supply: some supply maternity pads, nipple cream, nappies, clothes for baby to wear whilst in hospital.. etc etc etc... whereas others supply practiacally nothing.

Seekrit - I have a few snug as a bugs. i bought them in the Brisbane baby expo last year. Well I bought one while I was there and recently bought another one from ebay (new).
They will have the stall at the expo again this year - 30th June I think. Mind you, as someone said to me, if you are going to the expo close to your due date - make sure that your labour bag etc is in thecar just incase the excitement of shopping and looking at baby things pushes you over the edge!!

 and considering the brisbane expo is on the june/july weekend...
I'm going to dash to eBay now!
Oh the shopping that can be done!
I was actually wondering how to do it if we were at dad's and we wanted the bubs in a wrap but then we had to go home.. :D

Bought a Nappy Bag yesterday! :D So what did I do just now?
Packed it!
I'll tell you what's in it, you tell me what to add! (it's not final BTW, some thing I only have a couple of which is why I havn't put them in)
What the Hospie said to pack:
6 Newborn Rompers
2 travel packs of bum-wipes
48 Nappies (I was given 48 Babylove Nappies at Christmas time, they'll be okay, right?)
Baby Bath Stuff
3 Wraps (It says 6, I need 3 more.. are Cotton-Flannelette wraps okay?? or do I need some more heavy duty things)
7 Singlets
3 Flannels for baths.
What I have also thrown in:
1 Newborn outfit because it's so damn cute and I might want to do the 'new mummy' thing and dress her in the cuteness to take her home
1 pair of mittens
2 Beanies
Yah! So that's Nugget's bags.. what else should I throw in there? :)

Maybe a dummy just in case.....
I'm taking some knit wraps and some flannelette....
Seekrit
01-05-2006, 08:03 AM
Hmm, Dummy *writes it down*
I have some polar fleece bunny rugs too, it says on the hospie checklist "cotton" wraps.. so maybe I'll get some more flannelette ones, and then bring the extra polar-fleece ones and stuff for added wrapness if it's cold. :)

More bum wipes,
I'm not sure how long you'll be there but on Estella's first day home she used up a whole travel pack,
If your hospy is big enough they'll have a chemist anyway if you run out, (might not be open at 2am tho')
Flanno baby wraps are great! Baby actually stays wrapped, (polar fleece are great for the cold but baby can slip out and you spend all day re wrapping them)
Yay for Seekrit for being so prepared:yelclap:

This is the first time I've EVER been prepared or organised in my life!!
I was trying to explain to Chris today that I'll need to pack some clothes for him as well in case it goes over night and such and he's going "I'll just stay in what I'm in" he'll be all stinky for poor bubs LOL
I'll pack him stuff without him knowing ;)
More wipes eh? okay.. I have some more somewhere (people keep giving me wips and baby powder!)
I just remembered I also need to pack some pillow cases to use as bassinet sheets (that's what the hospie said..)

Don't forget baby mittens .... they have quite long nails when born & tend to put their hands to their face (well Tayla did & scratched herself & she still has a scar to prove it!)

Never thought of that ... great  . I was getting very frustrated with the set I bought that were miles too long & big all over!

Hiya girls
Just wanted to put in my two cents worth on dummies! I'd really advise you not to take one. I didn't use one on DS till he was 6weeks old and regret even that. They're hard to get rid of and not at all necessary. But the biggest issue with introducing them in hospital is that breastfeeding will not yet be established and dummies CAN be a real hinderance to establishing good bf. Not everyone has this experience, but is it really worth the risk.
hope I don't offend anyone in saying this - just wanted the first timers to be aware of the hazards.

seekrit i think you must be very organised.
so far my hospital bag consists of
2 nighties
one pair of underwear
teddy for baby and teddy for me
2 baby gro suits and 3 little vests
toiletries bag with toothbrush and shampoo and showergel (all that girly junk)
and thats as far as i have got. i see from your list that i have ALOT more preparing to do!
how many days do you plan on staying in hospital? and does your hospital provide all the baby stuff? mine says it does and all you have to take is clothes to go home in, but is it better to take clothes for the whole time for baby? and nappies and stuff?
(can you tell this is my first?)
bec

Bec - my hospital makes me take EVERYTHING including bassinet sheet sets! So stick to your hospital's list for what you need in that way.
I plan on staying in until they kick me out LOL nah, probably 2 or 3 nights at least :) I want to be there until I feel comfortable (maybe until after the baby blues kick in, or until after my milk comes in, I dunno) who knows - I may want to leave that day!

Finally got off my bottom and packed a "bare essentials" hospy bag for me.
it's got
a towel, big enough for me but don't mind if it gets lost in the hospy laundry.
brand spanking new pjs
few pairs of comfy undies
2 packs maternity pads
barley sugars (can't bf without them)
hairbrush and hair ties
nice liquid soap, deodourant, toothbrush and toothpaste.
dummies.
will add more stuff for dh and new bub later.
Just a quick question, in your labour bag do you have to pack some baby cloths for bubba to wear when he is born or do they wear hospital cloths until you go up to the ward?
I thought i better make a start on getting my bags organised.
Seekrit

I'm pretty sure the hospie provides the first clothes, nappies and blankie for the bubs. They have a warming cupboard in the labour rooms for the blankies and towels :D

When Tahlia was born.. I didn't bring anything for her.. just for me.. The only thing i felt i needed was baby wipes and breast pads (so you don't get smelly)..
Mum bourt her some clothes.. It made me feel heaps better having her dressed in nice clothes, as aposed to the crappy hospital outfits they provide..
This time i'll bring everything except nappys. They give them away like its christmas.. Even though they tell you to bring them..
Love the bendy straw idea.. As im having another C/S.. Would make things a whole lot better!

i have packed him two little grow suits a vest and a hat and a blanky to go home with but thats all. i only packed two grow suits so that i have choice - i like choice! other than that i have a large array of pjs and padding and stuff like that for me.
i am having a nappy wipes dilemma - someone said today to use cotton wool the first two weeks to stop nappy rash, but the hospital siad to take what ever we want - wipes or cotton wool. who knows which is better?

Huggies sensitive wipes are really good.. It was really hard trying to use the cotton wool balls, fiddley and messy! You wan to make your hospital stay as easy as you can..
TinyStar
07-07-2006, 03:46 PM
If you are wanting something without soap to wipe bubba's bottom you can use nappy liners with water, probably easier than cotton wool balls.
Seekrit

you know what.. of that WHOLE labour bag the ONLY thing I took out of it was a bendy straw! (god send) At the end, Chris drank the lucozade, but he stood there dutifully sticking the straw in my mouth, a few times the midwife came and did it as well. :)
