hi my name is jess and my partner kristy and i want to start a family. i've been searching and reading the net for a while now and would like an annonymous donor. just wondering if it is worth just trying to find one or better off going with a 'first choice fertility' or something like that.
..and if we opt for first choice what sort of money are we looking at all up?
any info or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
we are from the hunter valley, anyone else from up this way?

This is a great site for info finding.
My partner and I have a 3yr old DD by doing Artificial insemination using donor sperm (AID), I fell preggies first attempt and th costs back then was approx $800 out of pocket. For the last two years we have been trying for number two using the same unknown prerm donorand are now up to our 2nd IVF cycle. In the last two years we have spent approx $1500 each attemp of AID (six in total) and $8500 for each IVF cycle, this does not include time of work travelling etc.
If you can get a clinic near you it is of great benefit. Most clinics hae their own donor supply but most unknown donos are from USA and each straw of sperm costs uo to $1000. You are probably best off to contact the nearest clinic and talk to the nurses.
We chose unknown donor due to legalities of using sperm of someone we knew and their legal rights ove the child, very messy, we spoke to a solicitor first to make the right deision for us.

Hey Jess, we live near Forster and work in Newie - we've booked in an appointment at Hunter ivf, so hopefully on our way to parenthood. The plan is that I will be the birth mum and to use donor sperm (not sure where Hunter ivf get it from - either here or the US i guess).
