Hello
We have also been trying for 3 months. I feel bad for being upset about it because there are women out there who have been trying for years but I can't help but feel something may be wrong with me. I'm 36 now and this will be our first baby. I thought it would happen quickly so as I only changed my health insurance in January to cover obstetrics, we waited for 3 months before TTC so I would be covered. Dumb idea! We should have started straight away.
My period was always on time (give or take a day). In May it was 5 days late (after first month of TTC) so as you can imagine I thought I was pregnant. Then in June - second month - I was 4 days late. Again, I was feeling positive and was let down. For the third month we tried on days 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20 & 22 of my cycle! I wasn't sure when I was ovulating and because my cycle seemed to be messed up I thought we should increase our chances by looking at a broader date range!
So much for that! Today I got my period although I have had no cramps to warn me that it was coming, which I usually do but actually I think since we've been TTC, I've had no cramps beforehand.
I'm very disappointed but what can I do?? I think I may go to the doctor but they may tell me to keep trying for at least 6 months. Is that normally what they say? Maybe I'm not ovulating. Or maybe I'm exercising too much, even though I'm not doing any more than I was before.
Sorry to go on and on about it. I've just had a bad day :(
I wish you both the best of luck.
Monique

Firstly I would like to say try and relax and dont be so hard on yourself hun, I know thats easy to say esp from me as I am always hard my self and stress over TTC but even I am learning I need to calm down more.
Don't feel guilty for feeling bad, I do too at times esp as I already have kids & I feel like I shouldnt feel heartbroken when I already have kids but we are all on our journeys and some take longer then others, just coz we haven't been trying as long as some doesn;t mean we dont have the same heartbreaking feelings. Its ok hun:hugs:
2ndly if going to the doctors will give you peace of mind hun then do it, I did.
They did tell me they wasn't concerned as they don't really worry until 12mth+ my doc told me.
But I still got blood tests and had a ultrasound to check my ovulation & it was a great peace of mind. So if you need that peace of mind hun do it.
If you would like anyone to talk to I am here message me anytime. I'll help & support you as much as I can from here just never feel alone.:hugs:

Mon i'm with you on hindsight and wishing we had started TTC earlier. I get annoyed sometimes that we didnt but if i thought about it too much will make me crazy. We went to Dr about this time last year to ask about TTC and held off for 8 months for a variety of what now feel like silly reasons and here we are still not UTD :hair:

For the third month we tried on days 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20 & 22 of my cycle! I wasn't sure when I was ovulating and because my cycle seemed to be messed up I thought we should increase our chances by looking at a broader date range!
You could try BDing every second day of your cycle and that way there is always a fresh supply of live sperm in your fallopian tubes. You may have O'd later than day 22.... I am going to try pre-seed this cycle too as i have read some great stories about it! :)

Hello
Thank you both so much for your support. It's really good to be able to let it all out and chat to others who are in the same boat.
I have been told before that I should try to relax. My husband thinks I put too much pressure on myself but even he is frustrated and disappointed and he understands why I am upset but that we'll just keep trying. I don't feel like I'm stressing about it during the month when we're trying, it's just when I get my period and it's another month gone and I'm not pregnant that I get a bit down.
Someone else also told me to try every second day so maybe we need to try that. I told my husband last month that maybe we were BD'ing too much but he still wanted to try as much as possible.
Do you know exactly when you ovulate? I don't. I haven't tried charting and taking temperature etc as I think that will put more pressure on me. I just think I should try to let it happen naturally. Although maybe I should go to the doctor so they can do the tests to see if I'm ovulating. Can they only check this at a certain time in my cycle or can I go anytime?
Is it normal to ovulate so late in the cycle, ie. after day 22 as you mentioned Ness?
Thanks again. I hope it happens for you both very soon :)

Hi MonJT
I went to the Dr on Monday and they can do blood tests on day 21 of your cycle to check your progesterone levels to see whether you are ovulating, also they do a thyroid test. I too am trying not to stress and am pleased I am having the blood tests this month to put my mind at ease. Also you may find using an ovulating predictor kit helps ease your mind as you will know exactly when your LH surge is.
BTW this is TTC baby number 2 for us and was going to be month 4 but unfortunately DH has had to go away, I thought the Dr might say that it was to early to test however she thought that it was a good idea if it helped me stress less.
Good luck and you are so not in this boat alone!!

Hi Mon
Maybe your periods were later on those months as you O'd later. O isnt necessarily always at the same time each month but as a general rule your Luteal Phase (amount of days between O and AF) should always be the same (between 10-16 days). Potentially if you had a late AF it could have meant you O'd later. :detective:
I hope :baby: happens for you soon too :babydust2:
Ness: I'm on cycle day 18 - we are not so far behind each other so to speak lol I O yesturday. So I am now on the 2ww hate it!
Kiwi: welcome hun:hugs: hope you like all of us get that BFP soon.
Mon: I thought the same about charting, but for me it actually made me calmer as I find out the signs of my body and I learn the signs of O which I had no idea until I started tracking.
I use http://www.fertilityfriend.com you get a free trial.
Before TTC this time around and trcking I had no idea how long my cycles was, or the signs of O. I never had to track before.

Hi Kiwi
Thanks for the info. It's really helpful to know that they do the test around day 21 as otherwise I would have gone next week only to be told to come again!
A few people have mentioned the predictor kits but I don't know much about them, ie. how accurate/reliable they are? Is there a particular brand that I should look for at the chemist? I had no idea what LH surge was but have just googled it to find out. I learn something new everyday in this forum :)
I think I will get an OPK and try it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
I hope you have some good news soon. That's a shame your DH has to go away.
Good luck to you,
Monique

Yes I guess it's possible. It was just weird because I have always had a 28 day cycle +/- a day. When I was five days late in May, I thought maybe I had been pregnant but miscarried as I've heard it can happen without even knowing. Who knows. I just have to be patient and try not to worry about it  ...but I so want to get pregnant, especially as I'm 36. If I was a few years younger I wouldn't be quite so worried.

Hey Monique the Confirm OPK from Coles around $20 is fantastic when you surge you really know it the line goes so so dark there is no confusion. I thank OPK's for our son we tried for 3 months, used OPK's for 1 month and along he came.
And as for your age you are still young .. well you better be as I am 36 as well!!!
My OB who is also a FS said that she recommends OPK to her clients ...
Good luck it's feeding time for our man so must be off

Hi Kiwi
The Confirm OPK you said you've used, how many do you get in the pack for $20?
Has anyone used the OPK's that you can buy online at Lullaby Conceptions? I saw a few posts that said they are good. I checked their website and they're $10.95 for 10 strips (normally $17).
I thought about ordering it but would like to get some feedback as to whether they are any good.
Thank you :)

Hi Mon
The Confirm OPK's are $20 for 5 tests - I read from another BHer that they used the Confirm brand for the first few months then swapped to the cheaper ones once they got the hang of testing. I used the Clearblue digital when conceiving my DS but they are really expensive $55 for 7 however they give you a smiley face when they detect the LH surge so you don't have to think is the line darker.
Hope that helps.

Hi everyone
Just wanted to say hi and see how you are all doing.
I ended up buying the OPK's from Lullaby Conceptions and starting testing on day 9. No positive LH surge yet (today is day 13 but I forgot to bring the test to work today so will have to do it when I get home tonight). I'm not doing BBT but I have been checking my CM and cervical position and I definitely seem to be approaching ovulation...well I hope I am.
I'm not relying solely on the OPK though, ie. I'm not going to wait for the +ve result before we BD - we've already started that ;)
I hope you all have some good news soon as I know you are planning to test in the next few days.
Ciao

Hi all... just found this thread when looking today and had to let on that I am another young 36 yr old TTC #1 and totally understand how you are all feeling....
we have been trying for alot longer than 3 mths and have had all the basic tests - it did put my mind at ease a bit but all in all it's still a very challenging time with alot of ups and downs...
good luck to everyone - I look forward to seeing some of us move onto the pregnancy threads soon...

Hello MissArty
Welcome to the thread.
It certainly is a very challenging time! I was very naive to think it would happen a lot quicker. Had I realised it would not be so easy, we would have started TTC sooner. Oh well, what can you do! No point in worrying about it now. Just have to keep trying!
So do you do charting or use OPK's?
I haven't been to the doctor for any tests as it seems from what everyone has said that 3 months is not that long to be trying so the doctor will probably just say the same thing and tell me to come back if nothing happens after 6 months. Although I guess they can still do the tests to see if I am ovulating. I will see how I go with the OPK's this month. Still no positive LH surge yet. I'm on CD 15 (14 yesterday not 13 as per my earlier post) so I'm getting a little anxious waiting for a positive.
Good luck.

Hi All
Sorry I have been missing I have had DH away, tonsillitis and a sick bub so things have been a little hectic.
BB78 are you going to POAS - so excited for you here's to a BFP!!
MonJT I usually get a positive OPK between day 14 - 16 depending on my cycle length so keep going I am sure you will get a :bfp: soon, I am always so excited when it happens.
Ness are you really excited you are so close to the end of the 2ww ...
Welcome Miss Arty 36 is the new 26!!!!
I am gearing up for a BFP in Aug, have the pre seed and opk's ready to go and have had stern talks with DH about going away at the crucial time. I also had a progesterone test and all was good there so it's just a matter of getting that damn sperm to catch the egg!!!

BB i so hope its your month :fingerscrossed:
Mon i used the OPKs from LC this month and ran out before i got my + (used 10 tests) and got my + on First Response so not quite sure about them :detective: Might lash out next month and get a digital if no BFP this cycle...

Hello
Well good news....I got a positive result on my OPK today (was quite excited) so Kiwi you were right saying to just hang in there. I'm on CD 15 so got my +ve around the same time as you said you get yours. My only problem is that DH is going to Melbourne tomorrow for the night so we are going to miss the BD tomorrow....unless we sneak one in tomorrow morning ;) I've told him we will have to get busy tonight, tomorrow morning and Saturday. He says he's exhausted already!
Ness - I must admit I was starting to wonder if they worked but everyone else who has said they've used them said they worked well. I was concerned that I would miss the surge as it would come at a different time to when I was testing. I also thought I might run out of tests before I got a +ve result and that would have been a pain but today was the day.
I do have a question though - a +ve result on the OPK doesn't necessarily mean you ovulate does it? I mean, you could get the LH surge, which is supposed to trigger the release of the egg but if you are not ovulating there will be no egg. Is that right?

Monique - fantastic news re your BFP OPK - don't forget that they say that the wee spermie last for 3 - 5 days so I am sure are well covered!!
Gosh I am so excited it's as if I just got a BFP of my own.
And yes a surge does not mean you actually ovulate but keep thinking positive and remember if you want to put your mind at rest you can have a blood test at day 21 to check your progesterone levels.
We have just been out on a date it's so nice to go out without our DS although we love him to bits and we even made it through the night without talking constantly about him, the sad thing is our fantastic babysitter is off on her big OE on Monday so it was her last time with our family so there has been tears all round saying good bye ok well DH didn't shed tears but he will miss her.

Thanks so much. It was quite exciting to see the +ve line as at least I know the test works!
I told my DH that his little spermie can live up to 5 days so hopefully missing the BD today won't reduce our chances.
Sounds like you had a nice "date" last night. That's a shame about your babysitter. I'm sure it's not easy to find someone that you can completely trust and be comfortable with.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Ness
Wishing you lots of :babydust2:for your test on tomorrow. I hope you get the :bfp: you've been waiting for!
I'm on CD 20 now and I have to say that all this BD is exhausting. There are some nights when DH and I just can't be bothered. It really has become a chore, which it shouldn't be but last night I was just like 'oh, not tonight, I need a break'. Does anyone else feel like that? I had my +ve OPK last Thursday though and we did the BD on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday so hopefully we timed it ok. Now I just have to wait and hope!
Have a great day and good luck to everyone.

Oh Mon i totally agree about the BDing chore :D The romance totally flies out the window for a few days a month and thank god for using preseed this month or i think it would have been a bit painful for both of us IYKWIM :o I think you did a good amount of BDing at the right time and hopefully caught that eggie :fingerscrossed:

Oh yeah! The romance is totally out the window. Most of the time we just want to get it over and done with and sometimes it just becomes a joke and we end up laughing and being really stupid, which doesn't really help the mood! Oh well, what can you do but keep on doing it!!!
I'm going to Perth in August and it's going to be around my fertile time so if it doesn't happen this month, we might miss out next month :( but then maybe it will do us some good to have a break for a month. Everyone tells me to relax and not try so hard. Easier said than done as we all know.

 its suprising just how quickly the romance dissappears when you are trying to have a baby ....
Thought I would crash your thread and give you a bit of support. TTC is hard no matter how long you have been at it ... can make you a complete mental case in no time at all.
The best advice that I can give you is - do whatever it is that you feel best about. I dont usually recomend anyone who has been ttc less than 6 months to get into opk's and temping and such - primarily because it seems to add to the stress and total life encompassing addiction that ttc quickly becomes. However - if it is going to make it easier and more comforting for you to know what your body is doing ... if bd'ing every second day without knowing if you are o'ing etc is getting more difficult, then go for it.
I would advise anyone doing opk's and temping to read through the fertility friend stuff - just teaches you so much about your body and your cycles and stuff.... and if you have questions - dont hesitate to ask.
Most of all - try not to get upset and annoyed with everyone telling you to relax
and Good Luck to you all.

Hi Julie
Thank you for the excellent words of wisdom. I must say, I wasn't going to try the OPK's, temp etc at this stage as :iagree:I thought it would just add to the pressure .... however I caved in and thought I'd give the OPK's a try this month as I wanted to check if I got the LH surge, although I've since found out that it still doesn't necessarily mean I ovulate ... Hmmmm, very frustrating. I don't think I'll try taking my temp until I've been TTC for a couple more months. Will see how we go.
I saw on your signature that you are fighting leukaemia :(.... I hope your treatment is going ok and I'm sending you lots of good wishes that you make a full recovery and that you will be able to TTC for # 2. It certainly puts things in perspective when I hear news like that. It makes me think 'stop complaining/stressing that it's taking a few months to conceive'.
Take care,
Monique

Thanks for the well wishes. Treatment is going ok - though is such that I can not have any more children ... so wont be ever ttc'ing - something I am still struggling with.
However - DD took 4 very long years, and I was ttc no 2 for 15 months and once again about to start IVF before finding out about the luekaemia.
Anway - back to my point.....yes it is true that an LH surge does not necessarily mean that you have o'd ... there is a pretty good chance. If you get +ve opk's and you get a regular period, there is a good chance that you do in fact ovulate, so I wouldnt stress too much just yet. Just try and bd every 2 days, and every day around o time and :fingerscrossed: you will soon be announcing a wonderful :bfp:
Hello ladies,
I wondered if I could slot into your group here! I have been TTC no 1 for 4 months now, and am in my 2WW! I was on the pill, stopped it, no luck in the first month, then for the next 2 months my hubbie was overseas at the right time (very frustrating!). This month I have my fingers crossed, I don't do charting but had lots of EWCM (while we were on hols with his parents so not ideal but we managed!) and now on CD28 (usually 31) He has just told me that he will be away AGAIN for next month so I am really annoyed as it'll be Septmber before we can try again if no luck this time...
I am of course having EVERY early pregnancy symptom going :)

Hello
Welcome to the thread. How frustrating for you that your DH is always away at the wrong time! I may have the same issue in August as I'm going to Perth around my fertile dates so unless my DH comes with me, we may miss the chance. But as I said in my earlier post, maybe a month off will do us good as it may relieve a bit of the pressure.
Hopefully this month you will get a :bfp: and then it won't matter if he's away next month :)
Good luck!

Hi Julie
I'm really sorry to hear that you are unable to conceive again. Thank goodness Kaitlyn came along - you will have to shower her with twice as much love and affection :) which I'm sure you already do after 4 long years of TTC (again, it makes me think that I shouldn't worry about TTC for ~4 months). You've been through a tough time, which has to mean that things are going to start going well for you now.
Re the ovulation - my periods are really regular so hopefully that means I am ovulating.
Have a lovely day.
Monique
Thanks Monique for your encouragement! Hope your bloke can make it to Perth with you!
This morning have some pinkish CM which I am praying isn't the (early) onset of AF! I am usually 31-32 days, and by my (dodgy) calculations I am 11-12 days PO.
Fingers crossed!

Hi ladies
sorry for being absent after my post last week... just not getting to the forum as often as I would like
anyway Monique, you asked if I was charting or other and yes I am charting... seems to have indicated all the right things but it certainly is tricky sometimes and temps can be so fickle depending on what's happening in your life, and cvm also tricky to record depending on how often you are BD'ing
I had a big chuckle all the references to BD'ing being a chore... I get that too! whislt wanting to do all we can to be parents this whole ttc thingy can take all the fun out of it if we're all not careful! my DH has to be warned ahead of time so, as he says, he can get excited about it rather than feeling like he is disappointing me and not doing his part if I spring it on him and he doesn't feel up to it coz, boy it can be exhausting, both emotionally and physically :hugs: and leaves you just wanting to :shakehands: instead!!
all the best girls... looking forward to hearing some :bfp: results soon for us all...
I'm currently CD 12 and usually ovulate around day 14-16 - never the same day but around this time so it's BD'ing every 2nd day for us and :fingerscrossed: again
Have a good day everyone

Hi Mon and BB78...
Pretty sure it is early AF and not implantation, dammmit! Had a bit of a cry yesterday when it became apparent, but not the end of the world!
I swore I would never do temps etc and turn into 'one of those' women but took myself to the chemist at lunchtime and bought a basal temp thermometer! Figured seeing as my hubbie is away next month I may as well try to make sense of my cycle (whch I thought I had but now it has changed!!)
Fingers crossed for everyone else!! Hope Aug is your month too BB78!

Hi D
I know how you feel. I also had a little cry the last two times when I was sure I was pregnant but then my AF came. It is so disappointing.
As Kiwi mentioned, you should try the OPK's if you're not already using them. I too said I was not going to do all that charting and taking temperatures etc as thought that just put extra pressure on but thought I'd try the OPK this last cycle as they give you an indication of when you are ovulating (if in fact you are) and since I had no idea when I was, thought it was worth a try.
The BBT only confirms that you've already ovulated. Although if you use them both together, it would probably help you to understand your cycle better because if you got a :bfp: OPK result one day and then two days later your temp was up then that would probably confirm that you ovulated the day in between. Not that I'm an expert as I don't take my temp but I may try BBT in conjunction with OPK if I don't have any luck this month. I'm on CD 23. My cycle is usually 28 days although the last few have been all messed up - 33, 32 and 26 days. I think I will wait at least a week (if AF doesn't come sooner) before I test as I don't want to get my hopes up again and then be disappointed :crying:
Anyway, good luck and have a nice weekend.

I am feeling much better so am hoping that my cycle stays at 29 days this month to get a nice fat :bfp: on the OPK and get a bit of bding in although DH is so busy and stressed at work that I am not sure just how we will go, still time will tell.
Monique I am so sorry AF arrived looks like August is going to be our month. I try to always find a positive which is very hard in this TTC game but my positive thought is that at least if I get preggo between now and Xmas I wont be a beached whale through the hottest months of the year!! I had DS in March so a winter baby might well be a nice change.
:):):)
Thanks everyone for the advice re temps and OPKs, sounds like a good idea, will look into it. I am very confused coz AF ended up lasting only 2 days and wasvvery light so I definitely need to use everything I can to work out what is going on!
Drank lots of wine last night, thought I may as well, while I can!
Fingers crossed for your testing on Monday Ness!

Hi all.
I am frustrated with my body today... I am having trouble tracking as each month I O diff date and AF is never the same. June AF was 7 days long. July was 5 days long!

I thowt I would O arnd CD 17 like last month. But looks like sooner.

Hi All
Monique I am so sorry AF arrived looks like August is going to be our month.
Kiwi - No my AF hasn't arrived. When I said I had a little cry, I was talking about my last two cycles - not this one. My AF is due around Thursday 7th so :fingerscrossed: it doesn't come because it's unlikely August will work for us as I'm off to Perth on 22/8 so unless I O early or DH comes to Perth (probably won't), it will then be September :hair:
BB - we all know where you're coming from. It is very frustrating. As Kiwi says, keep using the OPK as well as checking your CM and hopefully you'll be able to work it out. I agree though, it's very difficult. For eg. I got my + OPK on CD15 (24/8) and CM was also wet so figured I would O sometime within 48 hours. My CM was still wet for days afterwards though and even now, I wouldn't say it's completely dry. I can't say I've noticed that I get "stretchy EWCM". Does anyone else?
D - Funny you should mention the wine. One of my friends that had her second baby in January told me to 'relax and get drunk one night and seduce DH' .... that's how her 2nd was conceived! To the contrary, I've just participated in Dry July (to raise $ for cancer patients) and I have to say I found it easy and I felt great not drinking. I'm hoping that may have helped this month ...not that I drink that much anyway ;) (only a glass or two on the weekend) and once I know I'm UTD then I'll give it up.
Ness - when was your AF due? Sounds very promising if you first tested last Monday and now you're waiting until this Monday. Obviously it hasn't come yet so I'll keep :fingerscrossed:. Let us know how you go.

Sorry if i have missed anyone! :babydust2: to all!!!!!
Hi Summertime :hugs:welcome and hope u get your BFP soon.
Yes I use MaybeBaby & OPKs. I would say get OPks too if you don't already as having both I think makes tracking easier if you cycle isn't clock work each month.
I am on CD 10 and the MaybeBaby showing partial fern already. Now if I was new new to tracking that would freak me out as I would think "oh I be O soon" but my OPKs are Negitive.
So I use both and temping!
I spent extra on a better themoneter this month and temp tracking has become so much easier and more stable as it was up & down last month & i had no idea what was goin on lol
My tip is do all 3 if you can/want to.
Temp, OPKs, MaybeBaby. Even use fertilityfriend.com a lot of us TTCers do and I think its the best software/sight I know when I feel so overwelmed with my body/tracking looking at that chart keeps me sane:laughing:
Anyone else agree?
Hugs & Best Wishes
Ness darl I be happy of my body was just clock work each month. I have a friend who gets AF & O same time each month. Oh how bliss would that be LOL

Hi Summertime, welcome to the thread.
I've only tried OPK's once (last cycle) and I got a :bfp: on CD 15 so now I'm just waiting to see if AF comes on (or around) Thursday. :fingerscrossed: that it doesn't.
I've never used Maybe Baby. I did log into Fertility Friend and I started using it but because I'm not temping, I was only using the OPK and checking CM, I didn't find it that useful and also kept forgetting to log in and record the info. I think it's only a 30 day free trial. Of course as BB said, a lot of people really like it and swear by it. I just don't think the charting is really for me but perhaps if I'm still TTC in a few months time I will change my mind and give it a go.

Ness - do you think the Crystal Clear tests are the best? I can't remember which one I got when I was 5 days late in May and thought I was UTD, but I know it wasn't that one. I got a fairly cheap one as figured they all do the same job and I would go to the doctor anyway to confirm.

Mon i hear that the First Response brand are the best. I tested with this brand last Monday and got a BFN (obviously hormone levels not high enough at that time) and have bought this brand for my test tomorrow. They come highly recommended and can be bought from Safeway/Woolworths (also Chemist Warehouse i think). They are one of the more popular brands. Crystal Clear is OK too :) Think everyone has their own preference.

Thanks for the info on the tests. I will try First Response.....if I ever have the need to ;)
Monique
Hey Mon
I am having second thoughts about First Response after a :bfn: this morning :crying:
I am going crazy with a million thoughts running through my head :hair: Was yesterday test wrong, was today test wrong, am i having/going to have a m/c, is there a baby at all??? WTF!!! Sorry :(

Oh no Ness, you must be so confused. Try not to stress. Your AF still hasn't come so I think you should just go to the doctor and let them do the blood test so you can be sure. Those HPT's are not always accurate. It seems strange that your AF is so late and you have a +ve result yesterday. Don't use the home test again, you will just get more frustrated. I would go and see the doctor. Good luck. I'll be keeping my fingers & toes crossed for you.
Big hugs

:hugs: Kiwi thats sad about not being able to TTC this month :( I hope you get your BFP in September! This whole process is such a strain on our emotions.
Went to Dr who did a urine test which came back neg so he sent me for bloods seen as i'd had a couple of positives at home. He tried rushing through the results for tonight but i just rang and they're not back yet so have to wait for tomorrow :banghead: When does this end???
Oh Ness :hugs::hugs: what a emotional rollercoaster. Hope that you get good news when it comes to the blood test results. I agree don't stress, (easy to say I know) but you have had BFPs at home and no AF so it still sounds promising huni. I'm thinking of you.
Aww kiwi :hugs: sorry you can't TTC this month :fingerscrossed: for next month.
I am CD 13 & still waiting for O.

Thanks girls it has been very hard to follow the Dr's orders as I still did OPK's and came up with a nice :bfp: yesterday and was so excited that I am back to a 28 day cycle.
Ness I so so feel for you I am sure you will get a BFP tomorrow, my Dr told me that their tests arent that sensitive and remember you were not using FMU.
BB have fun for me this month - we must be very close with our cycles.
Right off to shower my little man is in bed, my big man is at a meeting and I have just enjoyed a LARGE glass of wine as I decided if I can't TTC I am going to enjoy a glass or two.
:wizard::babydust2::babydust2::babydust2: coming everyones way
PS Ness re 'when does it end' trust me it will end and you will have a gorgeous bundle in your arms and all this will be a very distant memory x

Hi Ness
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get some great news today. Try not to stress and think about it too much although as we know, it's much easier said than done. The whole TTC is so stressful!!
I'm on CD 28 and I although I don't want to sound negative, I don't think I'm going to get a BFP this month :( I don't have any symptoms (sore boobs) and I'm actually feeling just starting to feel a little bit crampy. Sh*t.....it's not fair! I'm so tired of trying and it's only been 4 months. A girl I used to work with is about to give birth this week and she said she tried on and off for a year (probably 6 months in reality) and she said a year seems to be the norm. I don't want to wait a year :(

Ness I am hanging out for your news ....
Gotta run we have a playdate to get to ..
Fingers creossed for everyone x
Kiwi: What is your cycle like? I usually O around CD 17. cycles range from 30-32 days.
Ness: Any word from the doctor? I am thinking of you hun:hugs: i'm here if you ever wanna chat.
Mon: I know how you feel hun, you and I have been TTC roughly around the same time going by our tickers... its very frustrating!
I agree with kiwi, with my sons I had BFNs until I was 7-8wks pregnant and with the twins I had no pregnancy signs.
So don't lose hope hun.
As for me... well I am still waiting to O *sigh* I do have mild cramping today & headaches which I get leading up to O and my OPK test 2nd line is getting darker. So looks like I will be O on time this month! Amen to that!

Well that's another month gone! My bl**dy AF came today, right on time. I can't believe it. I'm really losing hope that I will ever get pregnant. I'm so sick of trying and I think my DH is as well! I'm going away on 22 August so unless by some miracle I O before then, that will be another month gone! Grrrrrr. I'm getting so p*ssed off.
Sorry, just had to vent.
Ness - I really hope you get some good news. At least that will cheer us up :)
Kiwi - sorry to hear you can't TTC while you're on antibiotics. That is a bummer for you but maybe that month off will mean you'll get your +ve on your next cycle ;)
I hope everyone else gets their BFP too!

Hi
Thanks everyone. I'm fine now. I was just really annoyed this afternoon and it was easy to vent on the thread! I sent DH an email as he was in a meeting and when he read it he was really disappointed and said we should see a doctor. He doesn't really realise that it can take months, although I've told him. I didn't think it would either but that was me being naive. Now after being in the forum and seeing so many other people trying for months and months, I know I have to be patient. If after 6 months we are still TTC then I think I'll see a doctor....if I can hold out until then.
Ness - I'm really sorry to hear about your results. I was so sure you'd have great news for us. That is just so utterly amazing that you had two + results with the HPT AND your AF was so late. Has your AF come yet? You must have been disappointed but hang in there and hopefully September will be the month for us all!
Thanks MissArty for your thoughts too. How is everything going with you?
Kiwi - I think I'll take your advice and have a glass of wine! ;)
Bye for now

Hi everyone...
Hi Monique - glad you are feeling a little better and thanks for asking about me - I am CD 20 today so just hoping that there is a little implanting going on!
It is really hard to stay positive about all this when it seems month after month nothing is happening.. we waited 6mths before heading to a Family Planning Centre for basic tests to check everything is ok... it was but I was feeling **** and as though my cycles and I just weren't aligned
So at the 8mth park we sought further assistance on a few fronts and I ended up taking the progesterone for a number of reasons... so it's just :fingerscrossed: that it's all working
Once we hit the 12mth mark it'll be back to see the Dr who prescribed my progesterone and work out next steps from there...
Hang in there and enjoy the journey if you can - the ups and downs are hard but we get through them... big :hugs: to you and everyone else today!

I'm on CD10. DH and I are going to do lots of BDing this week and keep fingers crossed that we can unite the little spermies and egg before I go to Perth on Friday! Hopefully I O early this cycle. I only have 3 OPK tests as didn't think it was worth ordering more for this month, so I will start using those on Tuesday and see if I get a +ve prior to Thursday. I hope so!!
Have a great weekend.

Hey Ness hun :hugs:
Its better now that Ive had treatment & cream for it!

16-08-2008, 03:51 PM
I rang my doc last Wednesday (i was meant to do this straight after results of bloods but didn't) and told him its been 8 months off pill and only 3 periods. He was a gyno/obstetrician in his younger days (in fact he was the doctor that delivered me 28 years ago LOL) and said i have post-pill amennorea and its nothing to be concerned about. It can take up to 12 months for cycles to return to normal (sh!t this doesnt make me feel better) and if i am not PG by January i have to go back and discuss plan B then. Oh, also i am on the "right side of 30" so basically just WAIT!!! Sorry for :ecomcity: i am just frustrated.
Meanwhile your addiction to Vegemite is sounding promising!! Its a good sign your BFP could be here :goodvibes:

HI all,
Sorry to hear that you still have no AF Ness! The advice varies so much about pill affecting you/not affecting you etc so frustrating!
I am wishing I hadn't started with OPKs and charting this month, as I am now on CD 17 and have not had any positive OPKs (started testing at day 10). I had EWM on day 113 and 14, then my temp went up a bit but is now back down this morning..
So now I am stressing that I am not ovulating (which will probably mean that I won't coz of stress!) aggghhh... And yet now I am addicted to OPKs and temps and can't stop...
I suppose I just hope that either O is late, or that both the OPKs and thermomenter are WRONG!
oh well....
D
Dont stress Just yet DB hun, I O on CD 17 last month & CD 16 this month. You just may be O late.
Do you have a faint 2nd line on the OPK?

Hi! I just went to do another OPK and it is POSITIVE!! I was starting to think they didn't work but this definitely has both lines as dark as each other! (earlier ones had virtually no line at all!) I am so excited, imagine what I will be like when I get a BFP!

That's great news you got a + on the OPK. I must admit when I started using them last month I was thinking the same thing "do these things even work" and then I got a + on CD15. Didn't get my BFP though :( even after BD'ing on CD 15, 17 and 18.
I haven't tried taking my temp. Might give it a go eventually but I don't want to start putting too much pressure on....I'm already feeling enough of that.

Well if that's the case, I have even less chance of falling pregnant since I'm 36. If I can't have a baby I am going to be devastated. :crying:
The only thing in my favour is that I keep fit but that won't help if there is a problem with my fertility.
Hi Mon,
Yeah, it was a relief to see that 2nd line, didn't know if it was me or the sticks! I am doing my temps too this month, initially I thought I would just reassure myself this month that O was happening, but now I sense I am addicted...not sure if it increases or decreases the stress! I do like my little graph on fertility friend though (but am going to keep that secret from hubbie!)
Sorry that you didn't get your BFP this month...
And don't worry about age, it's true that in general fertility gradually decreases but I have a friend who had her first (naturally!) at 39 and second at 41!
Keep POAS with those OPKs and hopefully things work out this time!!
D :)

My cervix is really, really high so surely i can not be about to O? Who really knows whats going on in there

I agree hun BD like no tomorrow ehehehee;) just in case.
Yes been eating vegemite out of the Jar today! LOL
Hubby thinks I have really lost the plot haha!
I slept 3hrs this afternoon  thankfully so did my toddler next to me so that worked out well. I am just so tired.
I still have my thrush bad tho, so back to the DRs in the morning!
The treatment obviously didn't work yet.
I used the Canestean Once (Sp?)
ness27
18-08-2008, 06:45 AM

Hi all
Well I'm fine. I'm not going to let the age thing get to me. I think I'm a young 36 and I keep fit and I mean look at Nicole Kidman and Madonna. They both had babies in their 40's. I just hope I don't have to wait that long!
BB - that vegemite craving sounds yuk! I love vegemite lightly spread on my toast, but out of the jar....no thank you. I hope you start craving something a little tastier soon. :)
Ness - get BD'ing anyway. Your cycle is all over the place so you just never know, it might happen when you least expect it!
DB - I can imagine once you start temping, it does become addictive. So have you signed up for Fertility Friend or are you on the trial?
Bye for now.
Monique

I think if I start up with the charting and taking temperature my DH is sure to tell me that I shouldn't. He told his sister we were trying (big mistake) and he told her I was using OPK's and she said that I shouldn't use them or anything else and that I shouldn't read up the whole TTC thing too much as there is so much conflicing info out there and it's all just more pressure. I told him to stop telling everyone we're trying because then they always ask how we're going. It is so annoying as THAT is more pressure - her asking every time they speak if we're UTD yet and offering all this advice. I know she's just trying to help but I just want to do what makes me feel comfortable. Everyone is different and just because she didn't use OPK's, doesn't mean I shouldn't. I admit that I've said I don't chart as I feel that may add more pressure as I will start getting obsessed but if I do decide to try it then I don't want someone telling me I shouldn't.
Ok - that's my vent for the day :)
Have a great day.
M
Hi Mon,
I know what you mean, I have told one friend who thinks I'm crazy for charting, but my SIL who knows is supportive of it. In my case, I wanted to chart and OPK this month because part of me was worried I wasn't ovualting (came off pill 5 months ago and AF been very light) but after my OPK + I have had 2 days of high temps so think I'm OK, will see if it continues! Also my husband works overseas a lot so we have only had 2 chances in 5 months :( so I don't want to muck up the timing!
I think after this month I won't do temps as long as this cycle continues to go OK (as I know I'll be anxious about them staying up!) but will still use OPKs so I know when to time things!
It is annoying when people know you are TTC, they watch to see if you accept a glass of wine or some double Brie!
Each to their own!
:)

Hi DB
Yes that will be the next thing...'oh you're not drinking, are you pregnant?". When it happens and I do stop drinking, I am going to tell people that I'm just having a detox. I just participated in Dry July (to raise money for cancer patients) and I have to say, I felt really good and told everyone I could have gone another month. So that will be my little white lie. I'm doing it again because I felt great after Dry July!
I'm using OPK's for the same reason, because I don't really know when I ovulate. I know that you get more CM around O (but I don't get that EWCM that everyone talks about - sticky & stretchy) and also that your cervic is higher and softer. The only thing is that the OPK's don't necessarily confirm that you are definitely O'ing although someone said to me that if my cycle is regular (which it is) then that usually means I am. I wasn't on the pill, havent' been for years. But like you, I think OPK's are good if they can give you an indication of when it's going to occur. I just did my first OPK test for this cycle. It was negative but I'm only on CD13 and last time I got a +ve on CD15.
That's such a shame that your husband is away for work so often. Maybe you will have to start going with him
M
Hi Mon,
I was at the point this month of going with him! Not sure work would have been too happy though!
I also heard the OPKs don't confirm that you have ovulated, but if you have the elevated temps (and are quite regular) then you are likely to be(though I think blood test is the only definitive way). That's why I thought I'd temp while hubbie is away, to reassure myself that all is working! My OPK wasn't positive til CD18 so I'm sure you'll get those 2 lines soon!
And I like the detox idea...though I'm sure my in-laws will see right through that! Well done for staying off drink for a month, good practice for when you get your BFP!
:)
How is everyone, just checking in.
I have some weird symptoms going on atm hope they are UTD symptoms.:fingerscrossed:
testing day monday I am so anxious.
Hi BB, hope those weird symptoms are a good sign! Try not to think about them too much (yeah, right!) or the time will pass soooo slowly!
Look forward to hearing what happens on Monday!

Well you've had the strange cravings so fingers crossed that these other weird symptons are a good sign. You must be very anxious to test.
Good luck!

I have a question for you.
If my DH and I want to go and get checked out by the doctor to see that everything is ok, can we get the relevant tests done by a GP or do we need to see an Ob? There is no point in me just going to get checked out to see that I'm ovulating and fertile if there is a problem with DH, so we'd both go.
Also, when you do get pregnant, can you book in with an Ob directly or do you need a referral from your GP? I have no idea which Ob I will even use when the time comes as I haven't called around to check their fees etc. I have to do that sometime soon so at least I'm prepared.
Thanks.

I got a +ve on my OPK today :yelclap:....the day before I leave for Perth.
CD 15 - Same day that I got my + last month.
Better have a BD tonight and tomorrow morning!
My cycle is so regular...you'd think I'd be able to get my BFP easier than this!!! Very frustrating :hair:
Thanks DB & Mon:hugs:
sending lots of baby dust for your BD tonight:babydust2::babydust2:

That's great about the +OPK, great timing! I got mine this month 4 days after DH had gone overseas :hair: . I am in Perth, just had a lovely walk on the beach with the dog, so it's a great place for relaxing and letting that BD move towards a BFP!!
You do need a referral for the ob from your GP. My GP told me to work out who I want to see (still haven't!) and as soon as I get BFP call them and pretend I have a referral as their waiting lists are so long (then get referral in next week or so). Not sure what tests GPs can order, but think they can do the basics...
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info about the referral. I'd better start calling around and check their fees etc so that at least I have a short list. Then when the BFP eventually happens, I can see my GP and get a referral.
Where are you in Perth? That is where I am from originally. I've been in Sydney almost 2.5 years. My family is still in Perth and so is my dog... he is my baby!
Good luck to all and I hope you get a :bfp: on Monday BB.

Thanks MOn :hugs: going a bit batty today the wait gettin to me:laughing:
Hi, just wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow BB78!!
Mon- I am in the western 'burbs of Perth, only been here for 8 months and before that lived in Sydney! The opposite to you! I also have a dog baby (8 months old!), but luckily here in Perth, with me: you must miss your pooch! Hope your 2ww isn't too long!
I am 7 days PO now, still charting and waiting for AF (unless I have an immaculate conception as last BD was 6 days before O!!), wish it would hurry up so I can start the September TTC!
:)
Will be testing tomorrow DB, been in hospital with my lil man he has bad respiratory infection & asthma.
His still not 100% but better.

Hi ladies
this is cd1 for me in the 4th cycle of trying to conceive so can I join you ?
so far i have had a 34 day cycle, a 31 day cycle and a 46 day cycle so my system is all out of whack since coming off the pill.
Ness, hope that AF is finally coming so you can start a new cycle!
Hi Goldleader, I have been a bit out of whack too after coming off the pill: 32, 31, 29 days, and currently on CD26 so we'll see what happens this month!
BB, sorry no BFP but as you say, wasn't FMU, so fingers crossed for later in the week!
