Hi Everyone
After seeing Veve's Thread and Aden having another nightmare last night, I thought I would post to see if any one else has been in a similar situation.
Aden constantly calls out in his sleep, laughs or has a conversation. I myself have very realistic dreams, full colour, I feel, smell and taste things, when my DH use to go to TAFE once a month he would leave late at night and I would always dream of him coming back and saying he got the wrong day or something like that, it was so real that when I woke up it would take me awhile to realise it wasnt true. Anyway back to Aden, I think he must be taking after me, poor thing  . I know all kids have nightmares but think Adens might be a mild form of Night Terrors (my dad suffer from them when he was younger). His first one was about 10 months ago, he woke up screaming, but when I tried to calm him down he kick, scream and bit me, eventually we got him back to sleep, I dont know if he had any idea what happen. When that one happen I read up on nightmares and night terrors and learnt how to deal with them. Now like when he woke up screaming last night, I go in and just let him know that I am there, and let him calm down. I dont say much at first, just maybe very quietly "Its not real sweety" "It was only a bad dream"etc Once he has calm down I see if he can talk about it, as much as a 2 1/1 yr old can. Last night it was something about a chicken and "OJ" (MJ) I am sure he wanted me to ring Donnelle and check that she was ok (I remember doing a similar thing to my mum). Finally once he has calm down some more, he comes for a cuddle and I just let him know that everything is ok, that it was just a bad dream, that "OJ" is ok, and mummy loves him. He had a couple of grizzles after he went to bed, but then I heard him talking away - no wonder he slept into 9 :D .
Has anyone else been through similar things, are they night terrors, or just nightmares and being only 2 1/2 he doesnt understand what is going on. The fear in his eyes, is so heartbreaking I always want to at first just to hold him close, but I know I have to let him calm down first. If you got through all that thankyou.
