Marzipan

im planing on making little characters from Marzipan to put on my DD's birthday cake..

few Q's

once i work the colouring into it and mould it into the shapes

1) what time frame can i prepare them before the actual birthday?

2) what is the best way to store them?

3) im also planing on buying the packet Marzipan so pre-made white in colour...is it easy to make myself?.

any other tips for working with Marzipan would be appreciared
