View Full Version : Fingernails!
Hi Girls,
Can anyone give me a tip on an easy way to trim fingernails? Someone told me to bite them off but that just gives me to heebie jeebies! I have tried clippers and nail scissors but Poppy never stays still for long enough for me to get at them. I have also tried doing it while she is asleep but the minute I open her little hand she wakes up!
Thanks :)
OMG Fingernails are so hard to do. I always do Charlottes straight after her bath so that they are soft. I use the nail clippers with the little handle thing on them. I'd love to hear if there is an easier way.

Well originally DP was just scraping them off so to speak but now that they are becoming harder, he is biting them off because Ange as you said with Poppy, Evie doesn't stay still for long enough lol......even after a bath LOL....
I clipped braydens finger when doing his nails when he was a bub, so ever since iv been too scared to use nail clippers on bubs. so i bite them off... both boys, in the bath :D we give brayds nails a good scrub with the nail brush first now though!! lol
Mel, like you I also got a little too close with the clippers and hate to try them again. Poppy has started to pinch her belly when we change her and is scratching herself something shocking!

Ange Evie is exactly the same except she likes to grab at her eye so she ends up with scratches all over her face :S
Jess Poppy just put a nice gash on the side of her nose and goes for her eyes as well. It would be nice if they could just stay nice and soft. They are almost like little razors!

Same here nice and soft would be great and its worse I don't know if Poppy does this but Evie when she gets frustrated and is lying with me she'll claw into my chest and neck and OMG it hurts!!
I bite them enough just to make a nick in them and then they come of really easy. I am too scared to use clippers!!

I used to file my other 2 girls nails when they were breasfeeding! Haven't had to worry about Evie's as yet, they are still soft enough to tear.
maybe I'm harsh but I just grip onto S's finger, hold tight so he can't wiggle and use the clippers.. I find it easiest to kinda slide the clipper in under his nails from the side and then clip
I can't get is nails short enough though, he still scratches himself :(

Oh Jo you're not harsh at all!!!
I dont think its the nail length i think its the nails LOL i have no nails but i'm sure i could scratch someone LOL.....
Lol, thanks girls. By the sounds of it there is no such thing as an easy way to trim nails. Bummer!
I hate the clippers and use nail scissors to do my boys. Bailey is getting quite used to getting it done now. The scissors I use are really good and are not the cheaper type of ones the curve etc. They actually go to a small point so that it is easier to get the under the fingernail.
The brand I use are manicare.
Heres a couple of links to them but it does not really show a good pic of them be better it the scissors were laying flat.

I think i saw toys r us have the clippers with the light on it.. i alway just cut them.. place them on your lap facing away from you... like cutting your own nails.
