Had an antenatal the other day and the midwife checked my blood pressure which was 130/60.....it was a little up compared to what I am normally--the top numer anyway. So they decided to check urine for protein and it turns out I already had 2+ protein in my urine at 15.5 weeks.

I had hypertension with my last boy and was induced at 40 weeks, it wasn't classed as pre eclampsia but this time it looks like I will get this, so the dr said.

Basically I had to have heaps of blood tests, urine sent off to the lab and got told they would ring if they found anything etc.

I asked her what happens if I get this and she said that basically if I get preeclampsia I would be induced early or have to have a ceasar(unfortunately not the salad or the dressing)....

I've been told to stay clear of salty foods, oily or fatty foods or any tin or canned foods....I have morning sickness still and as alot of you would no this is pretty much all I feel like.
So what do I eat?

I'm scared stiff of this happening.

Has anyone had this this early on in pregnancy since it tends to start at 20 weeks?

Could it been due to the fact I hadn't had any water or anything to drink that morning and had gotten sick about half hour before my appointment?

Atleast the hospital hasn't contacted me.

Don't quote me because it's been along time since I had pre eclampsia. ( OMG he's 18 )
I was told they're worry because of the big difference between the 2 numbers. So if you were 130/90 they'd watch it regularly but the big difference between yours means that you're working rally hard to get from 60 to 130.

Get right away from caffeine - chocolate, coffee, tea, coke, other soft drinks especially those nasty energy drinks. You're right no salty stuff. Watch for sodium in processed foods.

It wasn't your 1st or 2nd pee for the day was it? They're always the strong ones.

You'll walk a fine line between drinking enough water to get along but not too much because it makes your kidneys work harder. And some exercise but not too much. ARRGH
Ask for a referral to the hospital dietian for food suggestions
And the usual - feet up and no stress. Yeah right. Why do they ever think this is possible?

Chin up - you're right, they haven't called yet.

Thanks....I was really worried they were going too ring, still haven't.

As for resting and not doing much and not getting stressed, I have a 7 year old girl and a 2 year old boy (who is toilet training atm) and well you know what kids can do LOL>

My husband is studying nursing atm and according to him my blood pressure isnt that bad-I know he isn't qualified nor a midwife or a dr and he is male so I take his advice with a grain of salt at present.

I had been drinking tea-dr or midwife said nothing about that and infact asked me had I atleast had a cup of tea that morning(i hadn't).

I'm getting into the cereal -porridge(no added salt) and sultana bran, fruit, chocolate milk-that is my life saver....

I just need to stop stressing.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I had high blood pressure at 17 weeks, mine was 150/90. I didn't have any protein in my urine, but a trace was discovered last week at 23 weeks. my blood pressure has been sitting at around 130 at the moment which is good. Do you need to go for antenatal appointments every week? Oh yeah this is my 2nd pregnancy, but 1st with this problem.

This is an old thread, but thought I would add in case someone else comes along wondering. I was told in my last pregnancy that its very common, even normal to trace amounts of protein in your urine during pregnancy. Its when that trace amount grows significantly that they start to pay more attention. I had it from about 12 weeks onward I think and was told it was totally fine. I didnt have hypertension or PE in pregnancy. Hope that will help someone?? :)
