Hello Just a query is anyone can help.

I have been informed that my GP who will look after me until Dec is covered by the Gap as is the OB i will be transferring to in dec.

I will need a cesearean section as i have CPD.

My Gp costs are $59 per antenatal Visit till week 20

then after week 20 its $120 per visit.

HBF covers me for 3 days stay then i pay the $45 or so gap.

Are there any other additional costs im yet aware of? This whole going Private thing- its all very confusing.

My 1st born i went public.

thanks in advance

I had my littlest one at SJOG Subi earlier this year. The staff there are fantastic. I also had a c-section and it went really well.

HBF have a liason person at the hospital. It was Marci May when I was there. Once your gp or ob has you booked in, they contact you and go over all of the costs you will or might have. I'm sure you could just ring the hospital and ask to be put through. If you know what 'table' you are on with respect to your level of cover, you will get very detailed info.

Some of the things that might cost are:

epidural and anaesthetists bill
pediatrician bill - will attend the delivery and at least one visit in your room before you leave.
baby in special care nursery or ICU
inflatable leg thingos / pressure stockings if your ob uses them
medications for yourself
newborn hearing test - about $70 from memory

good luck - who's your ob?

Hi Evee,

how do you know you have CPD? Last time I saw one of your posts you were unsure..has this been medically diagnosed?

I had a c/sec in May this year at SJOG in Bunbury and everything was covered,

this included
Anaesthetists
OB who performed c/sec
My GP who attended the birth and for other hospital visits
Pathology of me and bubs
TEDS stocking, ( I was supposed to pay for these but somehow didnt end up with a bill)

I am with HBF and all up the bills that were paid by them were well over $5000, fully covered. I checked out on day 3, but my partner stayed at hospital with me, and HBF fully covered his stay as well.

I did receive a bill from paed, which i paid, but was 100% reimbursed from Medicare. This was around $220

My Dr only charged me the $120 fee once, ( at the 20 week visit ) and i got $110 back from Medicare, then it was just the regular $55 from then on.

On checking out of hospital, i paid $100 excess from HBF, that was part of my package.

PM if you want any other info. And i can get all my bills out and go through them.

I didn't have to pay extra for the pump/stockings.

Nor did I pay extra for any of my meds, all covered.

But then again we had full cover with medibank.

Everything else has already been mentioned in previous posts, except perhaps boarding and/or meals for your DH if they chose to room in with you.

All the best for the birth!:babydust2:
