They can live up to 7 days. The norm is about 3-5 days, but in testing it has shown that after 7 days there could still be a couple of buggers still alive and thriving from the original deposit of a couple of million....and all you need is one live sperm to make a baby.

I googled it and it's about 5-7 days if the environment is right. I did it 5 days before O and I am :bfp: today. I have short Luteal phase and it still came up.

Congratulations Melbryan, :flowerz:

So much for short luteal phase, in your case.
I wonder if you're having a girl, seeing that the sperm would have taken a while to reach the egg?
The reason I posted this question is because dh and I bd'd 5 days before I O'd and if conception has taken place, well it will probably be another girl which will then make me a mummy to 3 girls.
But I'm probably getting ahead of myself because there is now that 2 week wait.

Good luck Ethereal,
I hope it all works out for you I also have 3 of the same sex too in a row but that is fine. We left all of them to chance but this time we tried for a girl, and if it doesn't work out at least we tried and I haven't lost anything. I will definitely know I won't be getting a girl as that was our last shot.

Thanks Melbryan,

There is beauty in having all boys or all girls & I tend to look upon it as - mums that specialize.
Goodluck to you as well.

I totally agree!!! I am Boymum definitely.

Last week at school 2 girls were crying cause they didn't want to be friends( highschool) by the end of trying to sort them out in a counselling kind of way I was totally exhausted and said to myself just wish they'd hit each other and get over it like my boys do. Now I know what my job in the world is to be a..

BOYMUM!!!
