We got handed a bagful of chokos tonight.

What on Earth does one do with them? I mean, they are supposedly ( :D ) edible. How do you cook them? What do you eat them with?

Strange knobbly things they are, too!

My mum and dad used to grow chokos and although I haven't given them a thought in years (chokos - not my parents LOL) I think dad used to even slice them and put them on the barbie. I think you can do anything with them that you might normally do with a zucchini or eggplant - they're very moist (from memory) and high in water content, so nice and succulent.

Okay - I'll have to have a word to mum tomorrow to find out what happened to the choko stash down their backyard!!!

I've eaten choko's when they've just been steamed with other vegies and found them very yummy - nice with cheese sauce on them too

Just treat it like any other vege... boil it, steam it, bake it, fry it... cheese sauce it... whatever you're doing with everything else... then eat it! :D

I like chokos... especially baked... mmmmmm!

MonkeyMum05...

I didn't think we did peel them:confused:

I mentioned I'd have to ask mum and dad if they still grew them (didn't do it, but will now have to)

But, but... you mean to say all this time I have been giving myself an extra chore to do? Can you eat the skin? Really?

Yummy, I loove them. We just peel & core them, slice them then boil them with a beef stock cube in the water

Do you know, I'd completely forgotten that I had the things in my fridge ...

Shame. I made an excellent cheesy bechamel sauce yesterday. I could have tried them :(

We used to have a choko vine growing in our backyard when I was little - the only thing we used to do with them was throw them at the chickens!!
