I was starting to think about all the stuff I would like to bring with me to the hospital and thought that we should start a thread on it because there are a few first time mummies and daddies who could probably do with some tried and tested advise LOL.

This is what I will be bringing with me:

3 pairs of pj's
2 breastfeeding singlets (like the bonds ones but I got these Glamourmom ones and they are fab)
2 maternity bra's
8 pairs of knickers
Maternity pads (yuck, cringe at the thought of this again)
4 day outfits (tracksuit or something similar)
Skin, body care and Make up (I'll need all the help I can get)
Mobile phone and charger
Bottles of mineral water and champagne for the fridge (they have a bar fridge in the room and I cant live without sparkling water)
Breastfeeding pillow (the one thing I wish I had bought with me for Allegra's birth)
Thongs (my feet were really swollen)
Hairdryer and GHD straightener (because I am vain)
Linen hand towel (for hand use, so I or my guests didnt use the towels I wipe my body with on their hands... yep I am a little strange)
Camera and Video recorder and chargers.

Thats all I can think of. As I am having a c/s its different for me as I wont be bringing things for the birth like music etc. I will probably bring my ipod with me though.

OK gals - now to you!

 I also just thought of....

Baby book - so I or Hubby can start recording memories as I will forget by the time of returning home.
An extra bag to take the gifts we get while in there home, makes it easier for us to carry them.
Uno & rummy kin so we all have something to do if it takes awhile.....when in pain I have to try & do something.
Baby oil so Hubby can rub my back during the labour.
AND my birth plan of course!!!

I hadn't thought this far yet but a couple of definites:

- sippy cups for when the kids come to visit. I don't drink juice but I order it at each meal and put it in the fridge so the kids have a treat when they come in.
- a bag of toys for when the kids come to visit.
- a couple of cheap plastic vases (the hospital I go to never seems to have enough vases and we have a huge family who all send them!)

As for the birthing suite/labour stuff - I've never been in there long enough to need anything in particular! But I do recall being really hungry afterwards, so will be taking some high energy muslei bars or something like that.

Also, I hate feeling like I'm in my pjs all day, so I'll be packing jeans, cords, nice tops, headbands and accessories so I can feel human during the day! Makeup - definitely! And a hairdryer - the hospital I go to doesn't put them in the rooms - a safety thing I think...

And - obviously cute outfits and wraps for the babies so that we don't have to use the dodgy hospital pool stuff!

The other thing will be the twins' 'baby books'. Each of the kids have the "Book About Me" from Milestone Press (an Aussie company - two mums from Melbourne). It is a beautiful book and has pages for visitors to write messages. We had it out when Archie was born and it was lovely to be able to ask visitors to add their special thoughts for him.

I'm not planning to go to hospital, but if I do, I'll grab a nightie, a pack of maternity pads, and an outfit to take the kid home in.

Unless I get the chop, I'd be home again within hours

PrincessT, how long does your hospy keep Csec mummies in for? My last one, and the place I'm using for emergencies both keep you for 5 days.
I'd recommend a nightie for each day, and then a few spares because of all the various... um... leakage, you'll be doing

Yep, I'll be in there 5 days but I'm sending washing home if I have too.. or else DH can bring supplies with him as he comes day to day.

Great idea PrincessT havent thought about that part yet. All I've figured out to take is my pillow. Hospital is also walking distance from my house so if I forget anything will only take DP 10 mins to go and get it.
Question what do you take to give birth on or do you wear a hospital gown?

I think a lot of people like to wear and old t-shirt or something Krissy.. some are happy to wear a hospital gown too. It just depends what you feel comfortable in. I guess if you are happy and its pretty private then you go nude also?
