Hi bubhubbers,

I need some help....

I have a problem .... when i put my 15 month old DD to sleep it is always in her sleeping bag on her back with a blanket over her when i go to bed anywhere from 1 - 2 hours later i always check on her make sure the sound monitor is working in our room and that the movement monitor is switched on, however lately she has been sleeping on her side and it freaks me out i try to get her to roll onto her back but 9 out of 10 times it dosn't work and in the end i wake her up....
I cant relax or get to sleep i just keep thinking "what if" she dosn't wake up in the morning, generally she ends up in bed with us or i spend all night trying to get her to go back to sleep.

Up until 2 weeks ago she was in her snuggle bed she has only just graduated into her cot and i worry that she will get sids.

I guess my question is :
Is it ok for her to sleep on her side?

Thanks for your help in advance

My 12mth old crawls all over the cot in her sleep and sleeps in all sorts of positions from, back to tummy to side. I think once they can move around you can't really stop them and seeing as she is 15mths i wouldn't worry about it too much, thats why my DD is in a sleeping bag cause she won't even stay still to be tucked in these days.

My 8 month old is a side sleeper as well. He now wiggles so much and grumbles when put to bed on his back but as soon as he is on his side/front he falls asleep straight away.

I think by 15 months they have enough strength to move themselves.

I think it is fine ......

DS was crawling around at 9 months so there was no stopping him sleeping how ever he liked.

My DD takes after me and LOVES sleeping on her side or tummy.

I started to worry when she did this when she was in a sleeping bag as I was worried she wouldnt be able to roll herself back over very easily so we now just have her sleeping in PJ's under a sheet and blanket and she loves it.

My girls have always been side sleepers. At 15 months, I wouldn't worry too much, she's just sleeping how she is comfortable sleeping.

my 9mth old is a tummy sleeper

at 15mths old, its fine for them to sleep on their tummy or sides, they can easily roll all over the place, and unless you use a safety sleep there is nothing you can do to stop it

if you've got a movement monitor, they I wouldn't worry about it at all

DD (8 months) sleeps on her tummy sometimes, I don't put her on her tummy she just rolls onto it settles herself and falls asleep. I wouldn't worry about a 15 month old.

As soon as DS was able to roll himself over i stopped worrying about how he was sleeping. i was also told that its when they can roll over easily that if they roll over on to their belly not to stress.

My 8 month old DD is a side sleeper and has been for a couple of months. We also have a sound and movement monitor and I am eased knowing the movement alarm will go off if by chance she stops breathing.

try to relax:hugs: there is so much out there to scare parents.

My DD is 14months & also moves around the cot, so we don't put any blankets in - she just sleeps in a bonds suit, nice & snug in there. She also sleeps mainly on her tummy (bum way up in the air)

My DD is 16 months old and sleeps on her tummy with her bum in the air. She's done this since she was about 9 months old and I've never worried about moving her as she'd only wake up and then I'd have to settle her again.

I'm sure your bub is sleeping safely in regards to the cot, blankets etc so try not to worry about SIDS.

IMO, as soon as they are able to lift their bodies and roll both ways, then the way they sleep is not an issue. Especially not at 15 months!

SIDS is only an issue up to 12 months.
Has been known to happen after that age but it's so rare...like insanely rare.
Don't worry about it!
