View Full Version : What's for dinner mum?
:chef: Just wondering what you are all having for dinner? Or maybe you have already eaten in (time difference).
I am making Butter Chicken and have been craving it all day and am getting impatient for dinner time to swing around!
So what are you having? :chef:
Boring old spag bol here. Didn't feel like cooking, and that was the easiest thing to throw together in 10 minutes.
But now I'm off to polish off one of the last easter eggs and maybe a few sweet chilli and sour cream chippies...mmm mmm...
hmmm dial a dinner tonight... we actually haven't done it in ages!!! PIZZA for all (mmmm puff crust....yummy!!!)
xx

DH had dinner ready when I got home tonight - big treat for me. It was spag bol.
Have to tell you all about last Monday night though. DH cooked as I did an assignment and he followed a recipe for chicken cruoqettes (spelling?). He had it all ready and rolled really quickly and was about to dip into deep fryer when I walked over andit didn't look right. I read the recipe and in the ingredients list is said 2 cups of diced cooked chicken. DH had missed the "cooked" part and had diced raw chicken breast and thought a quick dip in the deep fryer was all that was needed LOL. Nearly didn't make it to work Tuesday.
We've just had some green curry with chicken & vegies on rice. Quick, easy, yummy!!

:chef: Dinner tonight was BBQ'd chicken with a side dish of home made potato salad but when I was making it i realised there was no bacon so bacon was replaced by double smoked ham & silverside (My hubbies stuff for on sandwiches - hope he doesnt mind).
Does anyone have trouble getting their older children (mine is 4 years old) to eat dinner? He can sit at the table for 30 mins and still have only had one mouthfull. He plays with his fork then says he wants a drink then says he has to go to the loo...Just never stops...Any advice?

Not really advise sorry but some empathy !!!
Mine is 4.5 years and is exactly the same. Like clockwork his questions are:
Mum whats for dinner
We are having (insert meal here)
I don't like that I don't want vegetables - say its something else mum
My Reply "If you don't eat dinner you will have nothing else and go to bed hungry"
He then sits there playing with his food, telling me he's thirsty, wants to go to the loo, wants to show me something from his room :ecomcity:
The other night I sent him to bed with no dinner, (Gee I was strong) I paid for it though, at 3am he woke up crying as he was hungry and his tummy hurt. I had to sit there with him while he had a glass of milk and 1/4 of a muffin
However we have tried a super nanny trick that works which is seperating a small amount aside from his plate and saying he only has to have X amount of mouthfuls that has worked well sometimes and we have built up from there.
He eats baked carrot sometimes if it suits him which is a miracle in itself, I even showed him photos of when he was little eating a plate of steamed veges. Didn't do anything though he just screwed up his nose.
I won't let him have a drink with dinner as he would drink it up and say he was full - that stopped quick smart LOL
Ah its a work in progress is what it is.:banghead:
Spaghetti carbonara tonight, yummo, and not too naughty as I use light evaporated milk instead of cream. Let's not mention the bacon though :devil6:

It is great to know I'm not the only one with the troublesome dinner boy :) I suppose its just a stage that alot of kids go through and probably my daughter (who eats every bit of vege and any food off her plate) will go through the same stage...hopefully not though....:fingerscrossed:
My MIL counts how many, say, pieces of meat that my nephew has on his plate and says "Oh! You're 8 years old" which makes me laughm shove one in his mouth and say "HOW OLD NOW?!"
"7!"
*eats another bite..*
"HOW OLD NOW.." hehe :D gets him shoving it in his gob.
I was meant to have silverside last night but I didn't, probably have it tonight. :)
