Ear Peircing for 12 mo

I am thinking about getting my DD's ears peirced. I was just wondering if any of you have any good or bad stories to share. Is it a good idea considering she is so young or should I leave it until she is old enought to make that decision on her own? Or, is it better to get it done now so that she will forget about the pain by the time we get back to the car? :confused:
