This is sort of in the same vein as the 'have you been told the wrong sex' thread. But i was just wondering how obvious is it what sex you're having in a 3d scan?
I was told yesterday that i'm having a little girl :smiliedance: But i don't want to get too excited in case they got it wrong (i have 2 boys already). So i'm going for a 3d scan on the 6th May for another opinoin lol.
Has anyone had a 3d scan and still got the sex wrong?

hi i had a 3d scan as well but my was on for about 5 mins and she did the normal scan for all the measurements and i am like you i have two boys and i was told this one was a girl and the lady who did the scan said if the are not sure they tell you that but she said to me it is a girl and she showed us her little bits (tmi) if its a boy you can tell as for the boys you can see them the package so i would say you are having a girl:smiliedance:

my current one in my belly gave a giant leg spread during the 3d scan, and well, all was totally apparent as to he being a he ;) We even have it on the DVD, and it is pretty clear....
Even my last boy, for whom we didnt want to know the gender, did a leg spread at just a normal US, and I figured it for myself, even though the sonographer didnt give it away to me....it was just that clear.....

I went there Duff...I asked for the $120 package...as I was leaving they said, That'll be $170 thanks. I was sure I said the cheapest, so they gave me the more expensive package for $120.

I went to Benson's in North Adelaide and they charged $110 - it wasn't as formal as the place that Shell went to in the sense that they didn't say what exatly i'd get for $110 - just a DVD and some pics - so i think it depends on the actual sonographer, and mine was great. I ended up with over 40 minutes of DVD footage and a stack of pics. (No colour pics tho.)

Oh the cost is not as bad as the NT one - here in Sydney its costing me $120 and getting it done in another 5 weeks. I'm almost 8 weeks now.
How many weeks do you have to be before you can get the 3D scan done?

I think you can have them done at any time, but they recommend around 22-27 weeks (from memory). I have a friend who had one done at 17 weeks and she got to see a lot.

I had a 3D scan with my first as the equipment had just arrived in the clinic and we were their first test subjects. We asked that they not tell us the gender ... but it was impossible to not know when you see a little penis floating around the ether. There was no mistaking it ... I would imagine it would be the same for vagina's.

I've never had a 3D scan, but with this pregnancy it was so obvious it was a boy. You just couldn't miss it. Also at my 28 week scan I saw his face perfectly, I'm not talking the alien pictures we usually see LOL, he had enough fat deposits on his face to REALLY see him. I really wasn't aware such an awesome clear face shot happened with normal ultrasounds, It blew me away.
Honestly it was much much clearer than a lot of the 3D and 4D pictures I've seen.

Mum2bsa - wow, that seems really expensive. I went there on Jan 30th this year. My scan was ONLY for "social reasons" - it wasn't a morphology scan, and did not require any medical diagnosis. So that might make a difference to the cost. The DVD is in "colour" - that orangey/sepia toned colour anyway. The photos are just black and white, and were still only printed on the thermal paper (which fades in time). I scanned my photos and reprinted them on proper photo paper, so that they will keep forever.
The pics were pretty much of whatever i wanted, or what the sonographer thought was a good shot. I have a great photo of my boy's hand and foot ... check out my website link in my signature - i have 3 of the photos on there.
Cheers

Hi LisaC- Your little boy is just gorgeous! Hope all went well for his birth! I had my scan, and it was also only for 'social reasons', but yep- it did cost that much! We got the same (photos, dvd etc) I think we will scan the pics and put them onto photo paper as well- thanks for the tip- I didnt know that paper fades

I'd really like a 3d scan. They should make it fair & make it free for everyone to see their own little bubs more clearly!!! :D
