Hi everyone,
I hate to start yet another thread on low lying placentas, but I've been through all the old threads and can't find an answer to my question. Actually, it's probably more of a vent than a question!
I was warned at my 20-week scan that my placenta was low-lying (which is pretty common I know). Today I saw my OB (I'm nearly 31 weeks) for some slight bleeding, which was completely unrelated to the placenta (it was just the cervix). BUT when the OB scanned me using his machine, he said that my placenta is still low. Because his machine is not really designed to measure things, he can't tell me how low it is and whether or not a c/s will be necessary. My official scan is next week, but I can't wait that long (I'm impatient). Should a placenta be completely out of the way by 31 weeks? It's near the baby's head (which is in position) at the moment. Are most placentas up near bub's bum, or is it always a close call?
Sorry for long post - I just want some kind of indication about how things are looking! I understand that doctors are reluctant to commit to anything until they see detailed scans, but I just want a hint!
