Hi all,
We have a little girl aged 2 and now have baby number 2 on the way and due in December.
We want to buy our daughter a book to explain about the new baby and what it all means to her and how the new addition to our family will affect her life etc.
Can anyone suggest any books that deal with this subject??
Thanks

Hi, this is not a direct answer to your post (don't you just hate it when people do that? :p )
BUT... when I came along mum made my brothers their own scrapbook with photos of them at different ages. She left gaps on the pages and said they were for pictures of me. she got them really excited imagining what I might look like in the photos, and they drew pictures and stuff. By the time I showed up there were 3 little faces lit up with smiles and begging to cuddle me, and they have not stopped since :o
Some of the books we have on pregnancy include "There's a house inside my mummy" by Giles Andreae, "Waiting for baby", "Teddy's baby sister", "I want a sister". There is a Spot book about Spot's baby sister which includes her falling asleep when they want to play with her. "Koala Lou" by Mem Fox is not completely on point but is a good reminder that Mum's still love their children even when they are busy with new babies. Check out the website www.myfirstbookshelf.com.au - they have books in categories such as this, have good prices and free postage. Look under their "new baby" section - there are some good suggestions there. I know that I have seen a book which includes a story line that new babies cry and sleep a lot but can't remember what it was - if it comes to me in the middle of the night as things often do I will post it later!
Hi there
My daughter was 2 1/2 when my son was born and I think its a great age because they are old enough to understand most of what is happening. We got lots of books from the library but I cant remember most of the titles. One which we found great was "Theres a house inside my mummy" another good one was called something like " I'm a big sister now".
Check out your local library they should have a heap of books to help. Good luck one of the most precious moments after Nathan was born was when Jacinta walked in for the first time and saw her baby brother.

Thanks everyone for your advice and tips. They are great suggestions and I will definitely be hunting down some of those books and looking at the website.
