The arrival of our 3rd child, and second son had been looming ominous for a couple of weeks before his arrival (as some of the girls on here can attest, due to my constant whinging and moaning:o),. I had spent 4 nights in a row with painful contractions and seemingly endless runs of BH contractions before finally falling asleep in the early hours of the morning, and waking up still pregnant. sigh.,.... It was as if he would never come!

Our first due date of June 20th came and went and the second date of June 29th got closer and closer,. The evening of June 24th started with the same run of contractions but I went to bed thinking "Ho Hum,...yeah right,.not tonight!",. At 23:00 I woke to a strong pain,..and then another and another,... The contractions started at 5mins apart,.and at 23:30 were down to 3mins apart,. We called my mum who was going to spend the night with Scarlett and Jasper and I got dressed and waited at the front door,...contractions were really painful, lasting nearly 2mins and coming every 3mins. Before we left, I heated up my wheat pack,.and the pain of the contractions was so bad that I didn't even notice the pack was too hot, and I ended up with a burn on my tummy! Mum arrived, and we jumped in the car and I was having contraction after contraction and thinking that it was all happening rather quickly. We drove to Royal North Shore Private and by the time we got there the contractions were 1minute apart. We arrived at midnight and the midwife did an internal, and I was 9cm! She called my divine Obbie Stephen, who arrived about 30mins later,... We had a giggle and a chat with him,.he broke my waters,.and I pushed our beautiful baby boy into the arms of his Daddy (who was 'assisting' Stephen). He was born at 2am after 3 hours of labour. No drugs, no tears! He weighed in at 3.2kg with a shock of black hair and a serious little face. His Daddy welcomed him in the same way as he did our other two children,..by kissing him and whispering into his ear "Welcome Earthside my Child,...I have been waiting for you!":valentine: A lovely birthing experience:yes:

When in labour, the last thing you think of is taking discrete photo's of your obbie! I did however, manage to admire the lovely camel coloured cashmere sweater he was wearing! :o The things you notice! Sheesh!

Don't many people take pics of their obs with the bubs? Geesh, I'm all embarrassed now 'coz we did :o, I wanted one for DS's book (and my ob didn't seem fazed at all when we asked him for a pic with DS). And of course DH was snappy happy during the birth so we have some wonderful pics of my ob with a 'serious' looking face (and you just 'know' what he's looking at... hehe!!! :D :o).
