Well I thought that I would write my 1st Birth story since #2 is only 21 ish weeks away! I know I started this somewhere but I have no idea what happened too it (and I can't find it anywhere!!)

I had lots of strong braxton hick contractions from about 35 weeks and looking back now it was probebly pre-labour and I should have just relaxed and gone with the flow but I did not trust my body nor my baby and it lead to me being depressed and uptight. I was 4 cm dialated from about 36wks and I had lots of S&S done (about 3 I think) and each time I was assured that "this will def get things going". So I booked in to be induced (have my waters broken followed by a drip if needed) on Tuesday the 4th of September 6 days past my EDD.

We ended up in hospy the Monday night as things heated up and I was having contractions every 5 min lasting for about 2 min each, when we got there they stopped after about an hour and we decided to stay the night since we had to be there at 7:00am the next morning anyway.

I was woken up about 5:30am feeling really crappy, still had some tightenings around my tummy from the night before so I dicided to let DF and my Mum sleep some more and went for a walk. Breakfast came at 7:30 and all I could stomach was some jam on toast and a few sips of juice, by this stage we were in the birthing suite as the Ob was due to come in at 8 and break my waters. My middy (Jodie) did my one and only internal and I was already 5cm dialated (whoo hoo I thought I am already in labour :yelclap:) I still wanted the Ob to break my waters as I was terrified that it would all stop again so at 8:45am it allll started, I felt like I had wet myself and then I had to get off the bed...trying not to make a mess at the same time .

I sware as soon as my feet touched the ground I ripped my clothes off and ran for the shower, the contractions were really full on and 1 1/2 hours later I had the water running straight hot and was begging someone to hurry up and fill the bath. The bath was really really good I spent the entire time 1 1/2 hrs on my left side with DF holding me suspended in the water sucking on the gas like it was my life line. I have a very good memory of being in labour in the bath where as the shower was a total blur. I remember sucking on the gas too late into a contraction and hullucenating that I gave birth to the bath pillow and thinking "thank god thats over". I remember slipping under the water with the gas mouth peice and my mum saying to my DF that I was going to drown under there but DF replied that it had a non-return valve in it so "the way shes sucking on it shes not drowning anytime soon". I also remember most horridly the gas bottle running out and Jodie not knowing how to change it (DF stepped in and did it) I felt one contraction starting during this time and I was trying to take the mouth peice off my mum who was telling me there was nothing there, she gave it too me and I tried to suck but there was nothing...I remember thinking "this is going to hurt this one" and boy did it! Jodie started having trouble finding the heartbeat so she asked me sooo nicely to get out the bath and to try going to the toilet too, I shook my head and DF was like "get out the bath now!" lol I hoped out pritty quick and had a contraction at the doorway leaning on DF nearly bit him too :D.

Like before being out of the bath is abit hazy I remember sitting on the toilet and that helped alittle bit after going. I then moved to the birth stool in the shower but Jodie was still having trouble with the doppler so she asked me to hop on the bed. Tried laying on my back but that was a bad move- so I ended up across the bed on my left side with DF holding my right leg and my hand.

I ditched the gas not long after I started pushing as I found it really distracting and the pain was not so bad anyway. Evertime I pushed I could feel DS head move down and back up and I was getting really tired Jodie tried grabbing his head a few times as I pushed but it felt wrong so I told her to stop. At one point my mum was saying that she had tried pulling it out but it was stuck, I thought "no you didn't, please go for it I can't do this" but she was talking to the Ob about the other fit ball under the bed, they were both sitting there watching - they had called the Ob as they thought that they were going to have to use the vacume to help him out.

I pushed for 1 1/2 hours I was told and it was not until I started pushing and holding inbetween that I actually got somewhere and he turned from being posterior, took about 4 pushes once I did that and his head come out (DF said later that the whole time he was crowning he was thinking that his head did not look that big until hit came out and he was like S%*t thats huge). I remember thinking that Jodie was going to tell me not to push once his head came out and that okay I had to remember to do that, boy it was the hardest urge to ignor ever! When DS came out Jodie put him up on my chest and we had a cuddle and tried to BF, he did not really cry at all just layed there looking at us :valentine:.

I delivered the placenta when they took him to get weighed ect. and had a shower while DF and my mum had a cuddle. Then we went back to our room to bond and rest.
