I ate spicy food all through my pg and then at the end of the pg I had it extra extra spicy, it was all fine. Breastfeeding I still ate spicy food and Ozzy never had a problem with it.

All the mums in India with their vindaloos seem to do fine with the spicy food, so bon appetit :chef:

I thought I had to go bland with my 1st 2 pregnancies, and lo and behold these 2 boys dont like over-flavoured food (in fact my 2nd boy can be a right pain in the butt as he only likes plain rice, plain pasta etc)....I threw that ideology out the window with my 3rd pregnancy, and this lil fella, who is now 2, will eat spicy stuff off my plate without flinching..... Might be a conincidence, but during this pregnancy (apart from morning sickness where I couldnt barely even stomach crackers) I just eat what I like

enjoy

I have always loved super hot and spicy foods and being pg didn't slow down my intake any!!

But....

DD1 eats raw red peppers - the really hot ones and loves them!!

and

DD2 loves Laksa and Pho (vietnamese soup) and we have it really spicy with extra chilli but she still fights like crazy to get some of it when we have it!!

The only possible repercussion could be indigestion but, what with the cramped stomach conditions, that's a given for most people anyway.

Buy some Mylanta, keep lots of milk handy and have at it, I say.

Excellent news! Thanks guys!

Can't imagine giving up my curry. LOL

Just thought I'd check to be safe.

Anglehope, maybe you'll end with the "weird" (not my word though) kids like mine who really dislike, as they put it "no taste" food. My youngest would not start solids, and we FINALLY worked out that she wanted our foods with the extra GARLIC & GINGER & CHILLI flavours that she was so used to getting from me. (Yes even the ladies at daycare reckoned my expressed milk smelled a little weird on some days ...lol)
Now they will eat anything as long as it is not too hot, so I just add extra milk for them.
If you get indigestion especially as you get further along, I found having a small hot chocolate 2/3 milk really helped, plus helped me sleep too.

Maybe thats why EJ HATES rice cereal  I ate so much chili while pregnant and do still usually have something with hot chili in or on it each day and Im breastfeeding. I asked my ob about the chili when pregnant and he was that it wouldnt hurt and maybe she'll end up liking it LOL

Im pretty sure that spicy food should be safe in pg. I ate a lot of it towards the end but only to get things happening, which didnt work!!
