Hey All

Sounds like there are a few of us sick and having money troubles. Hope everything picks up soon. I have a real headache today and still have a bit of cold hanging around but can't complain too much.

Bubs is jumping around everywhere all the time now which is nice. Getting some real good kicks now. Looks like I am going to have another active baby!!

As for money - we are doing OK now but I did have the luxury of having long service leave with DD so will have longer off with no pay this time which will need budgeting.

Jules - where do you live to pay that much rent a week?? We are renting while we build a new house and it is so much more expensive then when I used to rent but is a lot less than you (mind you we are renting in a pretty cr&%$&*y area!

Justmum - hope your scan went well. I know what you mean being last - with DD I was at the end of the month so was always behind with everything too which is frustrating!

Well no more personals as I better go and do some work - I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Morning Lovely ladies.
Sorry i was such a whinger the other day - i guess thats what tiredness and stress does.

Thanks for all your uplifting posts :)

Im feeling much much better today, hubby and i had a GREAT talk last night and we know we can do it.

I guess its natural to go through bouts of decisivness hey?

anyway i gotta go finish the washing, washing up and pack bags - we going out to dinner and staying at a friends place tonight then tomorrow my mum is coming down so i can do her nails (im a qualified nail tech) and we gonna go to lunch :)

Mrsmamo-I can sympathise with you on finanses. We are self employed and when I look at what we made last year I wonder how on earth me made it. It just goes to show that you do find a way to cope and you can get through it.

I have been on an ebay frenzy. I brought a Boori rocking/gliding cradlefor $100, they retail for $370 so I'm pretty happy with that. The new bubs will go in the same room with DS when it is ready and I thought the cradle would be better than a cot to start with as I can wheel it through the doorway and it can alternate between the loungeroom and my bedroom. I really wanted a cradle that had a glding motion rather than the traditional rocking as these are a lot safer. My first purchase for the new bubs, very exciting.

Be sneaky and try a sniping program that bids at the last minute for you. This way you won't go over budget, you won't miss the auction and you don't let other bidders have a chance to revise thier bid. If you PM me I'll give you the details.

Hi lovely ladies

I am back (hopefully) and starting to feel like my old self again. The headaches have gone for now, just got a lingering cold and cough.

I think a lot of us have the money worries as it's hard cutting back on things and going to one wage, aswell as having an extra mouth to feed etc. I stopped working when we had DS and now I work from home running my own website business. I don't make a fortune but at least it gives us a bit of extra income, plus I really like running it.
We also re-financed our home loan recently to make things easier.

Mrsmamo - Could you do the nail tech thing part-time from home after bubs comes?

Fugly - How was Disneyland? We went to the USA one back in 1997, it was good but the queues were ridiculous, like 3 hours for some rides! I preferred Universal Studios.

Mgg - Great buy on the Boori cradle. I love ebay for bargains. I got my tandem pram on there for $85.

Angel - Congrats on the anniversary, even if you did forget it lol.

I am feeling bubs more and more now, it's like strong flutters down low. My DS used to kick me down low too lol.

Tomorrow we are going to brave the Target toy sale. This sounds really tight but in a way I'm glad this bub will come after Xmas so I only have to buy for one kiddie :o

Beck75 - re your post yesterday, we're living in Perth where it was relatively cheap when we moved here from Sydney 2 1/2 years ago but since the mining boom and thousands of people moving here every week the rental market has gone thru the roof, they're predicting another 50% increase in rent in the next 2-3 years. Can't win, the median rental house price has gone up from $280/week to $420/week..

Never mind we manage to pay it somehow..

Hi girls,

I had been a bit worried about the MS hanging around for so long but it seems that some of you are suffering worse. I am just so tired most of the time - I can't even think about housework.

I have had to arrange a move at work because where I was working was making me feel even worse. I start my new position tomorrow which will hopefully be better (more sitting, less smells and yucky stuff).

The financial stuff is a worry as well. I think a lot of people must be doing it tough at the moment. I currently pay nearly half of my wage in rent!!

Hope you are all getting on well.

PS: Wish I had been to Disneyland this week. Soooo jealous!! :)

I am still suffering the dreaded m/s.... but not really complaing... at least its not ALL day sickness.
I am 14 weeks :smiliedance: for me! I haven't felt a thing yet, no flutters or anything. I am jealous that some of you can really feel things happening. I attended a baby shower yesterday, it was awesome, I can't wait till mine in November :) I hope you are all doing well. It is a cold rainy day in Melbourne today so I am cosy on the couch with heaters on :goodvibes:

Hi Girls Sorry I have ben MIA its been a super LONG busy week. I was really sick on tuesday I spent the day in bed or on the toilet I must of had a 24hr bug, and for the 1st time in 3yrs I had to get DH to come home from work to look after the boys. I go to OB tomorrow for the monthly check up will get to see bub again which will be good after being so sick I am a little worried.
angelbaby I also suffer with Heartburn when preg, my Dr gives me a script for Zantac it works out cheaper. I dont normally get it until a bit further along but this time it started around 10 weeks.
Hels Glad you are feeling better. I also thought Universal Studios was the better of the 2, I have also been to the Disneyland in France it was ok just a little stange with mickey speaking french lol.
3already I hope the move went well, I will only move one more time and thats to my old people resort lol.
jazzyjules WOW rent in Perth is $$$ I hope wages are going up to match it.

We have also been on 1 wage for 3yrs now, it took awhile to get used to having to think before spending but now it second nature.

Bubbly - Sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes but it's probably best to get on top of these things early.

I had a good day today, we went to the Target toy sale and bought some things for DS to put away for Xmas. I also got some preggy jeans that were marked down to $27.50 = bargain.
I have also had a little spend up on Oztion, I like that site heaps better than ebay. Lots of buy it now stuff and cheaper too.

The retail therapy has done me good :D

I was in the supermarket yesterday and noticed a baby sitting in a great little soft, padded, supermarket trolley seat liner. It fitted the pull out baby seat section of the supermarket trolley and had the leg holes in the right place to fit the trolley seat.

Does anyone know what these are called and where you can buy them from? I really wished I'ld asked the Mummy now.

Hels I will have to check out that website

IncyWincy- I have one I got for Mason at a baby fair thing but you can get them at baby shops I think (babies galore etc). If you buy pregnancy or parenting magazines they often have an add for that sort of stuff in the back section. If I find a name or a link I'll let you know. They are such a great idea because I hate the bubs sitting on the dirty seat and sucking on the handle that every other child has sucked on :barf:

Fozzie...I had carpal tunnel quite badly with my last pregnancy. You know it's true carpal tunnel when your fingers are numb (& pins & needles) but the little finger & the outer side of your ring finger are unaffected.

I found wearing a wrist brace at night helped (it keeps your hand straight), as did elevating the hand(s) slightly as well. I've also heard you can alleviate the pressure (& the pins & needles) by tucking your thumb into your palm & squeezing hard with your other fingers (sort of like a fist). I haven't tried this myself but have heard others say it's good. Also try to stay off the computer & don't do repetitive tasks - I found typing made mine *a lot* worse.

It goes away after you give birth (mine went about a week after). Unfortunately, there's not much they can do to treat it while you're pregnant. Also watch out for swelling...my hands started swelling up like balloons by the end. It's not the CT causing it but the same thing that causes the CT in the first place - fluid retention, weight gain & swelling, which causes pressure around the median nerve in the carpal tunnel.

Good luck!

Hi ladies! It has been a while since I posted. have been very busy chasing around my 9 month old who in the last month has learnt to crawl and stand and walk the furniture!! He is getting into EVERYTHING!! I am feeling really well in general though.

Sorry to hear some of you are still experiencing MS. :fingerscrossed: You are feeling much better soon!

Incy Wincy - I have one of them which is FABULOUS!! My mum got it for me though so not sure exactly where she got it. I know that I have seen them on ebay though (to buy brand new) and baby shops too.

Fozzie thats called Carpal Tunnel!! I get it while im pregnant too, it started like pins and needles and like my hands had no blood in them, then it progressed to not having much feeling in my two smaller fingers!

Fozzie - Yep, carpal tunnel. I had it with #1 from about 25 weeks and it just kept getting more and more tingly until my 2 little fingers where numb on both hands all the time. It probably took about a month before I got all the feeling back after he was born. Haven't got it yet with this bub, but will surely get it again. I think the main cause is fluid retention, and the fluid presses on the Carpel tunnel nerve and kinda cuts off the feeling. Try not to stress too much coz there is not much you can do. Sorry!!

Hi there,

Only 22 days to go until our morphology scan :yelclap:

Haven't had any significant morning sickness...besides the occasional dry wretch when brushing teeth in the morning that's about it - sorry gals! However, nipples have been VERY sore from day dot

Bub has been wriggling around on and off for 2 weeks now which has been very exciting...making everything feel REAL :smiliedance: Altho my beautiful boy still yet to feel bub moving in belly.

We booked into Hills Private hospital with Dr Naim Arrage. And have been going mad shopping...we now have bub's pram, car seats, multiple sets of cot/cradle sheets and blankies, clothes for bub to wear in hospital. Just need to decide on paint colour for nursery.

Look forward to chatting with fellow bubhubbers.

Welcome anitagareth!! Looking forward to getting to know you more. Is this your first bub?

I am soooo tired I don't sleep that well as I keep waking up with numb hands and pins and needles anyone else get it?

I am getting this too but I never had it last time. It's only when I wake up through the night so I'm wondering if it's just cause I'm laying on my arm funny.

Is this weird- when I sleep on my back I start to get a bad headache? Since having Mason I have hated sleeping on my back but now that I'm pregnant its what I find most comfortable.

anitagareth
29-07-2008, 06:28 AM
Thanks for the welcome mummy to mason.

Yes this is our first bub...although my partner has a child from a previous marriage.

To tell you the truth I love sleeping on me belly...and so far its not too awkward and bub isn't seeming to mind. However if I lay on my right side...complete unrest.

epiphany
29-07-2008, 10:52 AM
I had the opposite - my little finger and ring finger were the most affected and they were the only numb ones!

Ooooh...then that's your ulna nerve, not the median nerve, & it's called Ulnar Tunnel Syndrome. Did you get pain in your arm as well?

UTS is caused by the same thing as CTS in pregnancy (fluid, weight gain or swelling putting pressure on the nerve) but the point of pressure is in the elbow where the ulna nerve passes through a small space...the ulna tunnel...in the elbow (CTS is caused by pressure on the median nerve where it passes through the carpal tunnel in the hand).

Ahhhh...the joys of pregnancy.

Mummy to Mason...I never had it with #1 but had it badly with #2. Maybe you're swelling up a bit or retaining more fluid this time round?

Your headache might be caused by your head & neck not being supported by the pillow properly? Or a nerve in your back or neck not behaving properly?

anitagareth...welcome! I'm still sleeping on my belly as well but am using a pregnancy pillow to support my knee a bit. Bubs doesn't seem to mind too much :)

You should get the sonographer to write it down on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope (but only if they are really sure they know what it is) and see how long you can hold out! That way if you decide you don't want to know you have a backup if you change your mind.

Hi girls,

I had my amniocentesis today and it went better than I thought. It didn't hurt too much. They did a mini-morph scan so I did get to see that it has all of its major parts in the right places. I am measuring 1 day ahead (16 wks 1 day).

Baby wasn't co-operating with regards to between the legs so gender is still a mystery. I should find out next week when I have my OB appointment (if the test results are back).

I must have been more worried than I thought because I collapsed on the couch when I got home and had a really good 2 hour nap. Feel heaps better now. I will be taking the rest of the week off work to rest.

Hope you are all well.

Sharon

You should get the sonographer to write it down on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope (but only if they are really sure they know what it is) and see how long you can hold out! That way if you decide you don't want to know you have a backup if you change your mind.

:) thats our other option - i already said to hubby that if we cant decide we should do that then if we decide later that we really HAVE to know then we can peek.

Fozzie thats called Carpal Tunnel!! I get it while im pregnant too, it started like pins and needles and like my hands had no blood in them, then it progressed to not having much feeling in my two smaller fingers!

Good luck!

Aarrrrghhhh:crying: I had a horrible feeling it might be. It's only at night but it's my whole hand or both. My Mum has it sometimes and she asked her dr and he said it was a nerve trapping or something and neck exercises can help so I tried it and it was better last night we'll see what happens. Although they are starting to get tingly in the day too now:hissy: Where do you get the wrist splints from? I'll tell the dr about it when I go for my antenatal in a couple of weeks.

my boobs arent sore, unless squished or elbowed by DD, and my nips are only sore at the end of the day. my boobs are alot heavier and i have already gone up a cup size.

You can get wrist splints from the chemist. They're not too expensive. I just had one & used it on the worst hand (as I rarely got both hands going numb at once)...if you do that, make sure it's a splint that is reversible ;)

It's caused by pressure (from swelling, weight gain or fluid retention) on the median nerve in the carpal tunnel - a small space in the bones of the hand that the nerve runs through (ulna tunnel syndrome - where just the little finger & outer ring finger goes numb...is similar but the ulna tunnel is in the elbow). There are heaps of excercises on the web but most seem to relate to improving posture & blood flow, which can help reduce CTS...but in pregnancy, it's caused by swelling/fluid retention/weight gain...so you might find that later on in pregnancy, neck excercises might not be as effective (as those causes...swelling,etc... become bigger factors compared to blood flow & posture).

Definately tell your Dr though, so he is aware you're suffering from it & can keep an eye on it.

This is why I had to finally give up breastfeeding #2 :( It was just too sore! And they're a "no-go" zone for hubby (much to his disappointment)...it's just too ouchies. Now that I've stopped feeding, I've got bigger & actually look like I've got pregnancy boobies rather than deflated saggy boobies (aaaahhhhh the joys of breastfeeding...LOL).

I went in to see my friend who had her bub yesterday. She's so small!! (the baby...not my friend...hehe). I have my scan on Thursday next week (& no, we won't be finding out the gender). I hate to say, I *still* can't get my head around the fact I'm pregnant & will be having another child in 5 months time...despite now being able to feel it kicking & hearing it on my heartbeat monitor thingy (this thing (http://www.mybirthcare.com/pregnancy/baby_heart_monitor.asp), except it's pink - it's very cool...can hear bubs kick & later on, can hear their heartbeat, etc...I used it a lot with #2). I'm just really struggling to get enthusiastic about bubs...which sounds terrible as we do want another baby & this one was planned, etc. Sigh.
