My DD is 6weeks and is still on 100mls (karicare gold) every 3hours.. i think i should be increasing her amounts to 150mls by now, but im having trouble getting her to drink the 100 as she falls asleep.
how do i know when to increase??? anyideas on keeping her awake to finish the 100mls?
I had the same problem, DD was falling asleep on both bottle & boob...I found that just burping her 1/2 way thru the feed was enough to keep her awake & finish her feed

Agree with Charlie... try burping half way through and if she is still falling asleep towards the end try rubbing under her chin...it encourages them to suck.

You've been agreeing with me a lot .......I must be doing something right after all!! :smiliedance:
Hi there
Don't worry too much about how much you baby drinks, as long as she is drinking and putting on weight. My DS was drinking less then 100ml up until 6mths but he continued to put on weight so we wern't concerned.
If she starts finishing off 100ml then next time offer her150ml.
The info on the side of the tin is a guide only, DD would always be drinking more then the tin said and DS always less. All babies are different and have different needs.
Keep doing what you are doing she will drink more when she needs too.
Good luck.

Hi
I agree with Rell, the info on the tin is a guide only. My bub never went by that. I learnt at my local child health centre that the ratio of formula to weight is
150ml:1kg
For example, if your bub is 6kg she should have 900ml per day or 150ml per bottle 6 times a day. But if bub's putting on weight I wouldn't get to hung up on how much she's drinking, you'll drive yourself crazy. She'll let you know when she wants more when she starts finishing off the entire bottle.
And keeping a finger under bubs chin stimulates her to suck.
I was told to strip bubs off when she fell asleep, but this didn't always work! You can also try tipping bub back, like a doll their eyes should open on the way up.
Hope this helps :D
