Hello Ladies,
I would like some recommendations for a good nipple care cream. With my first son my poor nipples were so cracked and bleeding it was horrible not to mention painful. Rubbing breast milk didn't seem to sooth them for long enough.

My nipples thankyou.

Lansinoh was a lifesaver for me, my nipples cracked and bled so badly but it fixed it in time for the next feed.

Its also great for cracked lips... and fantastic for nappy rash! :D

Small tubes but you only need the TINIEST amount each time :D

Hi

I just used good old vaseline, and it worked well.

Also i went to the CHCN and was told that i wasnt attaching Taylah properly (even though a midwife had shown me how).

When the CHCN had shown me 'the proper way' the pain had subsided and Taylah started sleeping right through the night as she was more content.

I recommend the CHCN ! They were great for us

Thanks a mill.

Can Lansinoh be purchased at chemist?

I might buy one of all of them (I already have Vasoline)!!

Cheers

Shannon

I think you can get Lansinoh just about anywhere - supermarket, chemist etc. Its a little purple tube, I think in the baby section near all the creams, wipes etc. :)

The best thing for me was to give my nipples a salt bath between feeds during the day. Just put water in a bowl, add salt, and bend over and stick em in one at a time. Not a great look, but fantastic relief and very healing. I didn't need any creams and they never got too painful at all.

Also, when showering, don't use any soaps or anything on your nipples, just soap around them, but use plain water to wash them. Soaps strip the natural oils, which can aggravate sore nipples and extend healing time, and can deter bubs from latching properly, as they may not be as appealing or conducive to feeding after being soaped up.

I also used Lansinoh - it a purified lanolin, and I found it to be a life (or nipple!) saver in the early days. You can get it in a small (15mg) or large (100mg) tube now - the large tubes lasted me for a couple of months. I used it at every feed for the first 4 months.
