Hi everyone,

We had a baby massage session at Mum's Group today, and somebody mentioned that Johnson & Johnson's baby wash and oils are EVIL!! :( (Or at the very least have lots of yucky things that shouldn't go on a baby's skin). I have about three bottles of different J&J baby washes on my shelf! :o (I love the blue one ... )

Can anyone recommend any 'safe' or organic baby washes/oils to use? (and where to get them? )

Thank you! :D

Gaia baby is lovely and so is aromababy. Gaia you can buy at some chemists and the health food shop. Aromababy is stocked by Target.

Aromababy and Gaia are organic and apparently better for babies skin. But one of the books I have says that sorbolene is the best thing to wash baby with in the beginning. I have been stocking up on stuff and have a few diffrent kinds. I have the aromababy stuff, and some avent stuff and some J&J stuff. I have to say that the J&J stuff smells the nicest and it is also the one used in most maternity hospitals apparently

I've used J&J since day one. My kids are now almost 4y/o and a 2 y/o.

They seem pretty ok to me! lol

Thats so true! I've been using J&J for nearly 5 months and Ben's skin seems fine ... I like the day on, day off idea with soap (and water, thanks Tracey! :p ) but keep forgetting which day I've used the soap! :o

No problems here either and we have been using J&J for the past 3yrs on both kids (the soap free one in the blue bottle).

I found all J&J products agravated DD#2's eczema. I gave up on them, and moved onto a handmade olive oil soap which is fragrance free, after she started to get huge patches of it in her joint folds.

For DS, who is now nearly 3 month sold, I am using Organic Baby bath wash, shampoo, moisturiser and (sometimes) the nappy change lotion. I've not had any issues arise with his skin as yet, and they are not affecting my hands, either (I suffer from dermatitis).

I use the J&J Lavender Bath oil and the J&J soap free bar. It hasnt been a problem for us, but my best friend couldnt use it on her sons skin cause it irritated him. I think you just have to find the one that suits your baby. I have also heard the the Gaia range is great! Maybe give that a try!!

I was also told that J&J is bad and that it dries out their skin but my little one seems to be ok, so if you baby has been alright with it I wouldn't worry. They used it in the hospital when I had him so it can't be that bad. I also use Amolin, which is supposed to be good for sensative skin and smells very nice. I've also been using the Aquababy massage oil which is good because its just made up of stuff like almond oil. Apparently you can use that in the bath but I'm too frightened to use oil in the bath as I'm worried it will make Nathaniel too slippery!
