gapped teeth...

hi all, sorry this isnt a health issue.. but i didnt know where to post this..

i have gapped teeth and year after hating my teeth i grew to love them as it made me... but the other week at the dentist he told me i would need braces as my bite is crossed and my teeth are wearing slowly... eh... my partner is happy with me teeth... and im so scared about gettin braces as i will no longer look the same if my teeth where straight... plus i get worried that they will turn out wrong... i dont know what to do..:confused:???
i will miss my smile. i have a love hate issue with my smile...

Maybe get a second opinion? I have gapped front teeth too, cos a dentist took out my eye teeth years ago (a totally dumb thing to do as they are the 'foundations' of your mouth) and so I have a gap. Cosmetic dentistry is big business these days - partly due to less decay (flouride, sorry Neostudded) better dental hygiene and people's vanity about their looks!

I had a dentist look shocked when he saw my teeth and told me, 'but we can do something about that, with veneers' and like you, I am happy with who I am and it's just me. It doesn't look goofy enough to worry about, though sometimes when I smile the tooth behind where my eye tooth should be looks a bit gappy. I couldn't be bothered going through the drama of getting any more dental work done. Trouble with second opinions is they cost money.

And braces don't always solved problems and make things perfect.

Don't be forced into it.
